HHA DLC family sharing not working :(

Hi can anyone help? 2 switches (child 1 and child 2), 2 copies of ACNH. All good and working fine. Purchased HHA DLC for child 1. Child 2 now wants it purchased DLC for child 2, won’t redeem code on their switch as DLC already purchased (have family NTO membership). But child 2 isn’t getting Tom Nook call like child 1 did and doesn’t seem to be able to access the DLC. I’ve made sure ACNH and switch software up to date. Anyone got any ideas? Any responses very much appreciated by this frazzled mamma!

It's per console. Not sure if it's shared by the family plan, unless it's the online service.

To share the DLC normally, the person who bought it needs to have an account on the 2nd switch, and have it set as their main console. This also means that child 1 would have to connect to the internet to access any downloads before starting them, including the DLC, so keep that in mind if you go that route.

I think what you might be thinking of is the NSO extended plan - if you have the NSO family plan with the upgrade that includes the DLC and allows you to access GameCube games, then I think you could access the DLC from any accounts in the family group. If you purchase the DLC normally, however, you'll have to go the above route, or purchase it separately for everyone.

Yeah I assumed I would need to purchase per switch but when I did this and tried to use the redeem code in the eshop (accessed via child 2 on their switch) it wouldn’t accept it because the DLC had already been purchased. When I go into the eshop for child 2 on their switch and go into the DLC, it won’t let me purchase that way either as it says it is ‘purchased’! Just to confirm child 2’s switch they are set as main user.

Try logging into child 2's account on the Nintendo page, then redeeming the code here.
