Bells

I'm Emilia, and started playing New Leaf 11 days ago! I used to play Wild World but my game was ruined, so I started playing New Leaf!
I need friends on there, so feel free to add my friend code! I also need to find new ways to make more bells. I already do all the tips but only make 30,000 bells a day, yet I spend hours playing. Any tips, tricks, or 'cheats'?
Thank you!!

Okay basically, sell everything. Sell fruit, flowers, shells, fish, bugs, your soul, shake the trees everyday, sell anything you don't like, do errands for your residents and sell the items they give you if they're ugly, S E L L E V E R Y T H I N G .

Hi Emilia, I'm Emily of La Brea! I remember playing Wild World a decade or so ago, that game was seriously awesome, and the first AC game I had played.
As for bell making tips...hm, the only really good one I have for you is to go to the tropical island if you have it unlocked. Sure a ticket is 1,000 bells, but if you spend an hour or so catching everything (I'm talking fish, bugs, and undersea critters. Don't bother with the shells, coconuts, etc.) you can and COMPLETELY fill up the take-home box, and take it all to Re-Tail you can rake in some serious cash. Some trips I make 100,000 or more, depending on what you bring home. Yeah.

Anywho, good luck! I'll add you as a friend and you should be able to find my friend code in the side bar over there :p

Thank you so much! Maybe I need to spend more time at the island to get more stuff! I’ll add you! Thank you and it’s nice to meet you Emily!

I’ll look into that all, thank you!

welcome!!! my best bell-making advice is LOTS OF BEETLE HUNTING. the trick is cutting down every tree at the island except for 2 in the middle and 2-4 palm trees, and come back to hunt the beetles on the palm trees past 5:00 pm (beetles on the trees in the middle are good too but i don't bother unless it's a saw stag, scarab beetle, or rainbow stag). in about 20-50 minutes you'll have a full pick-up box of beetles that you can sell at re-tail for about 300,000-400,000 per box! here's a more in depth guide: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/997811-animal-crossing-new-leaf/66685670

also! fish are good too but once you've caught what you need for your museum i wouldn't mess with em unless they have a fin

Sell everything possible.

You can find sharks and rare beetles on the island, those sell for anywhere from 6,000 bells to 14,000 bells.
Until the island is open though, sell all fish & bug duplicates and fruit.
Make sure you don’t sell all your perfect fruit though without planting more of it first!

I would go to the island and catch rare beetles, sharks, and larger fish like blue marlin. This was what I did to make money, and I would get 300,000-500,000 bells per trip (which took about an hour for me, but could be less)

I do have the island open, but the trips aren’t making a lot of money.

Thank you, maybe I need to change what I’m bringing back

You’ll have to go to the island between the times of 7pm and 5am, that’s when you’ll find rare beetles and sharks/big fish. You’ll need to be catching and selling those to make a lot of money, everytime I make an island trip and catch only rare beetles/sharks I come back with 300,000 to 500,000 bells worth of items. It could take a couple consistent hours of doing that however, depending on your spawn rates. Make sure you chase away any beetles on the inner circle trees (the fruit ones, etc), because rare beetles only spawn on the palm trees by the water.
But only if you catch only sharks and rare beetles.
However, with catching sharks (if you haven’t already) you’ll need to hit the reel in button as soon as it bites down otherwise they’ll escape, there’s like a one second buffer zone with that.
With rare beetles, you’ll need to walk around your palm trees extremely slowly, running (and sometimes even walking normal speed) will make them fly away before you even have a chance to pull your net.

better yet, completely chop down any tree that isn’t a palm tree. this will greatly increase your chances of finding rare beetles.
same idea goes for sharks, you’ll be looking for their fin sticking out of the water, or a huge shadow. chase off any fish that don’t look like that. if your spawns start to lessen, go inside the island building and come back out. It seems to reset the spawns :-)

The "Official Turnip Prices Thread" in the 'Train Station' sub-board makes it considerably easier than in solo gameplay to profit from turnips; people often open their gates with 400-500 bell sales. Turnips are bought on Sunday morning like in WW. Check both the thread and your own Retail twice a day (before noon / after noon).

As everyone else is saying, destroy the ecosystem on the island and only leave palm trees. Haven't seen it mentioned that while beetle hunting you should occasionally run along the shore and grass to scare away the hermit crabs and wharf roaches, or bugs will stop spawning.

I?ve been doing this for two hours and it works! Thank you so much, I just got enough to do a public works project, and pay off a 298,000 loan!

I am not sure if anyone else mentioned this but I believe that if you change your Town Ordinance to "a wealthy town" you can get more money for selling what you catch. I haven't tried that though.

welcome to the forums!

you can stock up on goods like perfect fruit, exclusive furniture, hybrids, etc. and sell them here for IGB (in-game bells). people will usually give more than what reese at re-tail would offer.

additionally, you can sell these goods for TBT (the currency here on the fourms. underneath every member's username, "bells" will be shown with the amount they own to the right), and trade that TBT for IGB. 200,000 IGB = 1TBT so it's a good deal.

hunting for palm-tree beetles and sharks on the island is always a good idea too, if you prefer to earn bells that way.

Beetles. With the right layout and at prime bug catching time, in 45-60 min you can net:
- 15 ? golden stags/horned hercules
- 25 ? other beetles exc. those red & white ones
Which can then be cashed in for 380,000 bells - 1,000 for ticket = 379,000 bells gained. Spend a few hours doing that and you'll have made around 1,000,000 bells. Just make sure you have storage space for the beetles as retail isn't open at the best time to catch beetles, and don't let it suck the fun out of the game for you :) One day on-one day off is a nice pattern, or only do one roundtrip per night. Alternatively hunt beetles from 11pm to 5am once a week (if you're the type to play for hours on end anyways, make it productive) and you can garner around 5,000,000 bells and then spend the rest of the week doing more leisurely things than catching and selling bugs lol.
