Hermit Crab

When you pit a hermit crab in your house, is it in a tank or a bug container thing? I wanna put one in my mermaid room (It'll be like Sebastian from the little mermaid! <3) but i feel like if it was in a bug container it'd ruin it. xD and it is classified as a "bug" but... It is a crab right? So wouldn't water also make sense?

I have one in my Mermaid room, so I know it's in a bug box. It still looks nice sitting there next to my clownfish tank.
