Help with starting temporary town

My sister is in hospital and wants to borrow my switch and start a new island.

My copy is a physical game card.

How can I start a new town either by backing up my old island or reseting completely?

Captain nookie won't let me move to a new island because I'm the representive.

I removed the micro SD to see if that works but now it wants a colossal download done first before I can even start the game.

Any thoughts?

From what I read, Animal Crossing: New Horizons save data is tied to the console, not the game cartridge. Only one island save file can exist on a single system. You would have to restart completely if you want a new island.

That's annoying but I guess it'll have to be done.
Haven't played properly in a few years anyway. Took ages to load, even now, the island icon stays on loading for a good 30+ seconds. Given it runs like trap I think I'd rather wait for the next installment
