So, I'm new to playing ACNL with others. I have a faint idea of what cycling is. It's where you post who's in your town, and who's in boxes ready to go. I understand.

But what makes it different from regular trading? Are people time traveling to speed the whole thing up?

If there's already a thread explaining cycling, kindly point me in the right direction. Thank you!

Cycling usually just means trying to get out as many villagers as possible with time travelling. For instance cycling through 16 villagers to get a villager you lost and want back, or it can be with trading.

There are people who have towns specifically for cycling where they'll use methods, such as forwarding a year ahead, to get a villager to move out without controlling the villager who move out, then selling them or giving them away.

So when a villager moves out of your town, they won't move back in even if you try to convince them from someone's town...

That is, until you cycle through some different villagers. If I'm not mistaken, I believe you need to have cycled through 16 other villagers before a villager that moved out of your town will move back.

So, in a nutshell, a village you like moves out and you want them back. To get them back, you will need to have 16 other residents come and go before that villager will move back. People will generally time travel to speed this process up.

Hope that gives you even a vague idea! :P

Ahh-thanks! So, the threads I see in the Villager Trading board of cycling are indeed time traveling. I have thought of doing that with my 2nd town-but I love having two towns for turnip trading. :/ Hmmm. :P Maybe I should pause focus on the stalk market in that town to get my dream villagers.
