Help me with my Island rivers!

So this is my island layout currently.

Don’t get me wrong I like how my island looks but the rivers bug me. I just don’t know how to position them. (Especially with my town hall)

I don’t mind moving any buildings, I just need my town’s rivers to look better.

I think the biggest issue with them is they're too... straight? They look fairly unnatural, unless you're going for a man-made aesthetic.

I'm redesigning my island at the moment, and while I hate designing rivers with a burning passion, I'm somewhat decent at it I would think? This is what I got so far, perhaps it might give you some ideas:

I’m going to try at some point to make my rivers less straight.

Going to try planning it out on some paper first.

If it were my map, I would make it go straight past your house on the right side rather than going around it like that. I feel like it would free up a ton of space you might miss once you're terraforming. I also think the river mouth on top of the cliff and the river bits on the third and second levels there would look better a little thinner maybe, and like Khaelis said, more natural. I like the way it scoops past your town hall like that.

Personally I would have the right outlet be connected to something from the mountains. That would get rid of most of the river by your town hall area.

I would go to Happy Island Designer and draw a river that you like on your map. Then you can go square by square to match it up to your game. That's how I started planning out my rivers.

The above are Before & After pictures of my island and the maps.

I restructured during the Summer (late-June/early-July period).

I made the move because I wanted my No. 1 human to be on the third level. I then expanded my vision to have a tri-level island that could work given the limiting choice: having a river mouth on the upper-east side. (It would have been limiting on the upper-west side.)

I needed to create easy access to both the upper-west and upper-east parts of the island. I needed them to be accessible to the humans and animals.

So, this tri-level island begins with going from the first to second level in the areas of Resident Service (east) and just right of the Museum (west). When you get up to the second level, I have some other family-friendly fare along with lots of flowers (of which I collected too many).

The third level is just to distinguish where animals and humans live—and, of course, get a great view from above.

The Before & After pictures give you an idea how much one can change the overall design of one’s island.

I’ve started resculpting my rivers and redesigning my entire town.

I still have the top to alter but I’m really liking the new rivers. They seem to have more life in them than being flat
It’s not perfect yet but I’m getting there slowly.

I still have the top to alter but I’m really liking the new rivers. They seem to have more life in them than being flat ☺
It’s not perfect yet but I’m getting there slowly.

It looks great! I love it when there are little islands made out of river. I don't know why. I just find them pleasing to look at and fun to play in.
