What are your thoughts on starting your town on a different date than the real one? (Ex. creating a town today but setting the date to February 25)

I usually keep the date as the current one - but I'm thinking that having the holidays and stuff on different dates might be nice so I could actually play on those days.

What do you think?

I mean, go for it if that's for you. I don't do a lot of tting personally. Usually I stay in the current month. It's your game, so it's up to you. :)

I time travel quite a bit (at the moment at least) and tend to go a few days forward at a time but always set it back to the original date.
I do like the idea of experiencing all the holidays and events when I want to buy then I think I would actually prefer to have them in real time...gives me something to wait for/look forward to. Especially seeing as I'm now just focusing on PWP's and sorting out my town. There's only so much to do in a day

I don't see the point of setting the date to something other than the real one except for if you seriously hate a particular season or something.

Changing the time is understandable though due to life's schedules. Sure, there is the Early Bird and Night Owl ordinances, but I'm sure most would rather have the Beautiful Town or Wealthy Town ordinances instead and the time ones only make a difference of a couple hours or so.

My Wild World town and Pripyat are played in real time. My second New Leaf town, which I'm forever resetting, is a year behind (February 17, 2015). I do it for the same reason: it's fun to celebrate holidays and events on different days. Two Bunny Days, two Halloweens, two Toy Days...! :D

It's fine as long as you can keep track of the real world time being different to the date and time set to your game. Personally, I really want to set my town into late autumn for aesthetic preferences but I get confused easily so I don't do that. But, my town's time is either 2-4 hours ahead or behind depending on how busy my schedule is. It's fun to visit towns that have different time and seasons!

yeah it's fine that's what i'm doing with mine atm. as long as you keep track of when you last played it's fine

That actually isn't a bad idea! I always struggled trying to coordinate a time to play amongst real world holiday activities. I just set the time back so that when the day is almost over for me (like around 10pm), my town is just beginning (like noon) that same day. I'm kind of a night owl anyway hehe ^_^

that isn't a bad idea. It is your town so you should do whatever makes the game more fun and playable for you.
I personally set my time different all the time because I need the keep my town beautiful ordinance and am not awake at good ACNL play times. So I mess with the time a lot.

I almost did what you did for an autumn aesthetic town. I thought about it a lot but wasn't sure.

I never start on the actual day, lol. I always choose to start a new town on a day that is special to me :)

If it works for you, why not? :) I can definitely see why some people would have it on a different date, especially if they have rl commitments on event days and stuff which can prevent them participating. Personally, I like having my town on the current date, but I do have the time a few hours behind because I often play in the evening and want my Beautiful Town ordinance rather than Night Owl.

i generally keep my towns on the current date just so I don't have to constantly keep track of where each one is. if I'm making a cycling town I'll put it in spring or summer, because I'm sick of seeing snow ;-;
