So, I've been playing this game for a year (exactly a year today. Happy anniversary to me!) and I've been getting my butt in gear to upgrade my house some more and fill up my encyclopedias for the last few months. I know that you catch a char by a waterfall. I've been standing at top of the waterfall that leads into the ocean and casting my pole into the river, so it floats down into the waterfall.

I've been catching a lot of salmon (which wasn't in my encyclopedia, so at least I caught one that I hadn't caught before), but I haven't caught a char. Am I doing something wrong? Are there any tips that anyone can give me? I've been saving and continuing to spawn more fish, but they're always salmon!

well, if you go down to the waterfall at the beach, and do the save and continue thing, then it should appear. Since its past the 16th, then it should be somewhere in the river near the water falls.

AHH, you said u where above it. Go under it next time. Plus, they've moved up river.

One method that seems to work for a lot of people is standing at the top of the waterfall, casting the pole so that the bobber falls downstream, pulling the bobber back up if there isn't a bite, and then Saving & Continuing and repeating the process. It can also be found in the river near the waterfall.

Char is apparently difficult to catch for many people. From now until September 30th, the Char is more likely to be caught between 4am-9am or from 4pm-9pm. Its shadow also may appear smaller than expected if it is hidden by the "splash" of the waterfall. Good luck!

Yes, thats good advice. I spent a lot of time, wasted really, trying to catch it where the water from the river meets the ocean. That is, under the water fall. I got advice from here to look at the TOP of the water fall, and within minutes, caught one. Try that. Good luck!
