I've heard some people saying they have 2 towns on separate 3DSes, and I can see the benefits to that, because you can trade with yourself and hold villagers and have more storage space and 2 types of perfect fruit, etc.

But... I mean, I have 1 town and it's SO. ADDICTIVE. It's so time consuming just to have 1 town; how do people manage 2 towns? oDo If you have 2 towns, do you have 1 main town, and other is your utility town, where you just dig some fossils, plant some perfect fruit and talk to your villagers once a day?

Oh! And also I've heard some rumours where people say that you can have 2 towns on the same cartridge? Not sure if that's true or not though...

I have two towns on the same 3DS. I wanted the second town so I could decorate it differently than the first town. And I waited until I pretty much had my first town the way I wanted it, everything's unlocked, I've pretty much finished the landscaping, pretty much all I have to do now is collect the rest of the furniture for my houses (all unorderable). That way, I can pop my first town in for 15 minutes or so, to dig up fossils, say something to all my neighbors and water my flowers :D

So in other words, you own 2 copies of the game? I am assuming one cart and one digital?

You can own 2 games, not on the same catridge, though. It's actually fairly easy managing 2 towns, I thought it'd be harder. The only hard part, though, is which one to play on hiatus.

You can't have 2 towns on the same cartridge. I got a second town to use as a cycling town, but it eventually just became a second town, lol. It's hard to keep cycling out those cute villagers! I mostly just interact with my villagers there, use it to get more visits to shops, Redd, Sahara and to breed hybrids. I'm more likely to time travel there as well. I know that I'll eventually do more in that town, but for now I just keep my villagers happy. When I get PWPs and items for the museum, I figure it's a head start for when I really focus there.

I like having 2 DSes to transfer items and villagers and to keep the times straight. No one else around here plays games that affect the DS clock, so I can keep them at different times and not accidentally time travel. When I do have to go a week or two without the second DS, I have to put my two towns on the same clock or I get really messed up, lol.

Hmm I totally understand that it'd be much easier to finish 1 town (upgrades etc.) before starting a new one.

I might do that in the distant future, when I have enough money for another 3DS & copy of ACNL. |D

I'm like you, I already put so much time and effort into one town that having two towns seems overwhelming to me!

As stated, you can't have two towns on one cartridge, but you can get two (or more) copies of the game on one 3DS console

Well I guess I got a second town because I'm nearly finished with my first town. Wanted to keep the excitement going without having to restart everything and probably regretting it later. And I'm trying to make my second town horror themed like Aika, but I haven't been able to do lots on my second town right now as I have exams soon. But I'm hoping to finish it during the holidays ;w;

i thought have 4 files in one game was hard xDD

but i wanted a second town of my own for the cycling , and some items I've obtained .
hoping , I'm getting the new 3DS next year + the upcoming Animal Crossing Game .

Many rumors saying thats theres a new ac game is coming out this year but i doubt that and that its coming out next year .

i can't handle having 2 towns though , the lost of villagers , forgetting the 2nd or main town . idk and the bed head, (i hate the bed head)

I regret getting a second town to be honest. I haven't been on it in like a month.

yeah , thats what i thought , eh rumors will always be rumors .

i have a second town, but at this point I'm just using it for weeding purposes. Well, I did use it to buy turnips yesterday to sell in my town. (We have 2 3DS's because each of my kids have one.) Using it for weeding wouldn't really work if you only had one 3DS because you couldn't travel to it.

I was just discussing with my daughter what I'll do with the game once I have all the weeding day furniture and the weeding badges. I'm not sure. Maybe I'll be "finished" with my current town and looking to create a new one. I can't imagine trying to fully upkeep two towns at once. I barely have time for one town!

I had the same problem. I just didn't have the time for a second town, as I love my first town and am still working towards getting all the badges and meeting some new villagers etc. There always seems a lot for me to do in my first town, so I didn't want to spend any less time there! I always ended up missing it whenever I played my second town. Eventually I just gave it up. There are also other games I like to play, like Pokemon, and with work and family life, I don't really want to spend all my free time solely playing ACNL! If I ever felt like I'd done absolutely everything in my original town, I'd consider starting a second town as a side-project. That's just my opinion of two towns though, many people manage perfectly well with 2, 3, 4 or more towns :-)

I have 2 3ds and have been playing 2 main towns since release (June 9th 2013). I play everyday on both games. Sometimes it is just checking on the villagers, money rock, gem rock, fossils and seeing what is for sale in the stores, but other times I'll spend hours landscaping or arranging furniture in any of my 8 houses (4 in each town of course).
A few weeks back, I did get myself a 3rd copy, which I call my weeding town. I have Beautiful Town in both of my main towns and had no hope of ever getting even the bronze weeding badge, so I bought the 3rd copy just for that. Both of my main town mayors have the bronze badge so I'm working on the silver now.
I do plan on using the 3rd games as a theme Dream Town, but I'm not there yet.

I live on the edge of getting a third town, but I think it would be too much for me. I don't think I could resist doing this or that, adopting a villager here or there, placing a path, moving a bridge...
