Whenever I reset my town of three years, a lot of people told me that it was for the better, but right now, I can't see it. It has a rather weird layout, has pears as the native fruit when I wanted ANYTHING but, and I'm really struggling to get the villagers I need to match the theme. Now my town is basically stuck on the first day because I don't want any random move-ins. I really regret resetting at this point and I'm just sad about this new town in general. The people I talked to about it said that it'll be better eventually, but this is a rough start. I don't know if I believe them. Has this ever happened to you?

I never resetted my town, so not really. I did, however, lose two towns due to random circumstances and I do miss my second town quite a bit.

The only time I regretted resetting a town was when I tried to make a town called Chippo which was going to have five chickens and five hippos.I planned the town before I started and went as far as collecting the villagers but I lost interest and never developed the town and eventually reset. For me, pre-planning a town(deciding which villagers, where PWPs go,etc.)takes a lot of the fun out of it.I much prefer starting a generic town and letting it develop on its own for a while before I get any ideas on which direction to go with it.I think this game has too many intangibles to deal with and that can be really frustrating if you have everything planned in advance.

If you don't like the map you have just keep resetting. You're playing the game for the long-haul and if you're stuck with something you don't like its flaws will always be at the front of your mind. Some people actually take a few days to a week of map resetting to get the perfect map. If you already have things on there (catalog, bells, etc.) then I don't know if resetting your town will lose them for you, but you can always get a new cartridge or buy it from the eShop. While you probably have some regret from letting go of your previous town, it seems that most of the issues come from the map you've settled with.

I know, but I sold my previous town to Tom Nook and I didn't educate myself enough, so I didn't know if shutting the game off and continuing to reset would make my bells and catalogue go away. It's not even the map, no one is helping me get the villagers I need and it's really stressing me out. I wanted villagers that match the color scheme of my town, but no one has offered anyone.

honestly, my best advice to you is just try to enjoy the game! Going from having an amazing town to nothing can seem rough, but I promise you if you just relax and get back to the basics you'll enjoy the game more. You'll be able to build up your town in your own time.

Nope. I reset my town and it was such a good decision. Despite my current town being a work in progress, I'm enjoying it a lot more than the other one I had. Villagers will be hard to get when I do decide to do that though but since my town will take time, I can afford it

I’ve never reset my town because I can’t bring myself to destroy all my hard work. Even when my town looks rubbish, all I can think is “damn, I’m gonna have to catch all those stupid fish and bugs again and dig up all those fossils and upgrade the stupid shops.”

Last year I went through a faze of really hating my town and thinking of resetting it. But instead I went and brought a second hand copy of the game. I figured I could work on a new town with the security that if I ever wanted to go back to my old town I could. And I’m so glad I did it this way because within a week of playing the new town I got so bored of having to unlock everything again that I went back to my old town and haven’t touch the new one since. I don’t know how people reset so often and keep their interest and passion in the game.

Nope, I have never regretted resetting a town. I've only done it twice, but both times it was ultimately the right decision. And I moved all the villagers to the new town before resetting :)

You're original post isn't even about asking if anyone has the villagers you want. You're asking if anyone else has ever regretted resetting their town. I think the Villager Trading Plaza will fit what you need more. You can also buy amiibo cards in packs, on Amazon, eBay, etc. You can even trade any existing ones you have on here, too. I'm sorry if that came across as rude, I'm just trying to help you.

I understand the stress and frustration you feel with not having everything at once, especially when you're coming from a town you have everything in and then starting all over. You don't have everything at your fingertips, but that's alright because that's part of the enjoyment of the game. Right now you could have random move-ins and find new villagers you like. You could still change your theme, too. In fact, since you aren't doing anything right now you don't even have to have a theme. Just lay down some paths and start getting your ducks in a row. You don't have to do everything all at once because then you'll finish your town quickly and find yourself right back in the situation you're in now. If you find yourself flip-flopping on liking your map and hating it then just stick with it. Exercise your creativity with the things you're limited by. Don't stress yourself over a game you play to relax and have fun.

I reset my town and it was regrettably the worst decision I ever made. I wish I could have it all back...but no power save can get it back because I deleted & erased everything and all of my villagers from existence. That Coco I had for 5 years was wiped out from the entire space time continuum and any Coco that I meet or that moves into my town is not the same Coco that was my original from my old town.

I will never reset my town as I love my mayor and my two goofball boys. I'd be in a severe trauma if I decided to sell or delete my town. Also, I can get any villager I want because I cashed on some Amiibos to prevent whining which villager I need without begging to sell me x villager (shudders at villager trading hell) Somnus became a peaceful yet busy place. I used to hate my map but as time goes by I start to slowly prefer it and think, "I guess this is how Somnus is going to be forever."

Also kudos to Pansy:

If you're impatient and demanding like me, spending $200 ($400 including Sanrio cards) on whole set of cards is nothing. Time is money, I suppose. I profit from the RV cards such as the Sanrios so no loss there. You're not even entitled to buy all, heck, buy whatever you want the most! (One card is like, idek? $2-15?) You'll get back the money esp. on RV villagers so!

I regret ever resetting NL. Usually I can only get into something that you sink so much time and effort into if it's my first time playing it and that goes for NL too. At the same time I struggle to get back into something I've left alone for a long time so when I did want to play it again I reset. Now I can never get back into NL and it sucks. Also since there are so many event items I've missed out on now I feel like I can never go back to it. That's why I'm just waiting on AC switch now!

subscribed, this seems like a very interesting thread

Do you still have an active dream address of the old town? There are ways of getting it back.

Even if you don't have the address, if you ever had a dream address after the Welcome Amiibo update, it's still out there. You can search by town name.

Nope. I have never regretted resetting my town multiple times in Animal Crossing New Leaf. Had a phase of resetting my towns whenever I got the perfect town status. 'Cause at that point... I didn't have much to do in the game and just decided to have a new town to fill the boredom of the game for me. Fast-forward to today... I haven't reset my current town for like maybe 3 months since I got the town. 'Cause I chose a map that had the least amount of problems for me. It took many days to get the map that I wanted, but it was worth the struggle since I didn't have a need to rush for a perfect town status and reset the town at all. Thank Goodness. When it came to the villagers of my town... I got rid of all original villagers since they weren't placed where I wanted them to be. I was really fortunate that I got villagers that I wanted at a good price here on the site, but I also did my best accommodate the timezone that can work with the seller when I was getting villagers from people. Currently, I am sort of close to finishing the house interiors of each of my three characters (Mayor Character & 2 Alt Characters). I'm pretty excited to start landscaping once I get rid of all the item junk on the ground of my town.

I did reset my town three times and the town I'm currently playing in was the roughest to play.
Trust me it will really get better overtime !
I only have one of my dreamies but I've had some cute villagers aswell !

All right, guys, I was just being really emo when I made this thread. Tbh I'm not going to invest that much in this town due to having more important things to do, such as my writing. Now my thread in the Villager Trading Plaza (which I made prior to Pansy's post telling me to do so, mind you), has gotten offers, and I realized that I was complaining over a game, I've kinda cooled down and realized that maybe resetting was what I needed. I'm working on two huge writing projects and I'd rather do that than complain over a fictional town. I just need a town that I can be chill in and watch naturally progress. My villagers are the only thing I'm adding. I'll stop whining about my map someday. Truth is, with my previous town, I ruined it using TT and such. I time traveled to get all of my dreamies in one day and time traveled to get the perfect town status to unlock the flower clock. Maybe I need to just chill out and give this town more natural progression.

As for amiibo cards, I know how profitable they are, but my philosophy is that I'd use them once and they'd just gather dust on the shelf. They take forever to acquire. Heck, I was looking for sanrio cards yesterday and most people want 200 dollars just for 1. With my family's financial struggle right now amiibo cards aren't really an option, though I do appreciate the advice.

I bought my Sanrio cards from a Japanese seller in Amazon (or E-Bay? I forgot.) Whole 6 costed me $200. It's just in Japanese. US Sanrio cards are total rip offs anyways. They removed the freebie sticker you get for every card pack you buy. BOO!

My cards are definitely gathering dust but I do my best to put them into good use such as churning up lots of Meow Coupons to buy Welcome Amiibo furnitures. (Which costs 5 MC each? lol)

Glad you cooled down and just accepted the reset. You were ready to do it even. Just give it time. :)
