Have you ever gotten villagers you didn't know were popular?

I got extremely lucky in NL, finding Diana, Bob, and Marshal while not knowing they were rare. Diana was at my town since the very start, at my town tree there was no record of her moving in. Bob moved in on my birthday, and marshal camped while my town was full and still ended up moving in. They are now my faves, anyone else have a similar story?

I didn't know Raymond was popular at first. I found him on an island like really early on in the game's release, but I hated my island in general so I reset it. I found out that Raymond was popular when I came back to these forums after a long break and was like, oh poo. But then on my newest island and the one I've been playing for the past few weeks now, he was my forced campsite visitor so I was really feeling blessed lol. I really do love his design so he's my favorite smug now. I love cats and he also has glasses like I do. I did know that Audie was gonna be super popular though, have yet to meet her in game but my sister has her, so I get to visit.

I had a similar experience! In NL Diana was my a random move-in after my starter snooty, Queenie, moved out. Then I found Julian and Fauna in the campsite and decided to adopt them both without knowing how popular they were lol

Yes actually this happened to me in my very first NL town, I had Diana, Tia, Kid Cat, Mira, and Deirdre and had no clue they were popular villagers because I was young when NL came out!

I found Marshal but I didnt want him bc I had too many squirrels. Found out later he was like the most popular one.

I used to have Marshal in New Leaf without knowing his popularity.

I had Julian in New Leaf before realizing he was popular. Same with Merengue, though she isn't as popular

I don't think I knew Zucker was all of that popular when I got him on my first NMT island.

Audie was the first Peppy villager to show up on the mystery islands when I was hunting for spots 3-5 and I snatched her up without a moment's hesitation, not knowing she was popular. Clearly, everyone else just also had good taste!

In NL, Whitney was one of my starters. At one point Merengue moved in too but I wasn't a huge fan of her so she moved out after I got her picture. Coco replaced Merengue after she moved out and I love the creepy feeling of her. I thought Coco would be disliked but turns out she's pretty popular. I also didn't expect Merengue to be so popular lol.

For NH. 90% of my move ins are unpopular but I still like them!

NL was my first game (I watched my sister play the older ones though) and I got Julian, Chief, Marshal, and Tia.

Julian I got from the campsite and the others were random move ins.

In NL, Beau moved into my town and he became one of my favorites. I found out he was popular later on after I had started over my town a few times and wanted to adopt him again. He's still in my new leaf town though!

oh boy, i had Stitches, Marshal, Chrissy and Chief at the same time in my NL town at one point

I got Marshal as a camper once but I was too lazy to get him to move in. Kinda regret that now lol.
Oh and I got Stitches from an island I think.

I got diana, coco and lopez as starters in NL! Lopez nto so much but definitely diana and coco

When I first got ac back when it was only on gamecube one of my originals was Bob. I loved him but sadly he was the first to move out. And in ww I got Stitches who I also loved and who later moved out. I always lose the ones I really like. I did have one of the more popular ones, I forget which one now, in my campsite in nl but I didn't want them so I let them go.

Woudn’t say that there’s such a thing as “rare” villagers, but back in Wild World, I did have Stitches, Chief, and Whitney who are popular. Didn’t really have anyone I didn’t know was popular in NL since I was already quite active here when I started to play.
