Umm... No. I'd never leave my gates open like that. But that's partly because leaving the WiFi switch on sucks up more battery power than having it off. I only have the WiFi on and the 3DS closed when I'm trying to StreetPass, and my gates are closed then.
I have some incredibly kind NL friends though. They're forum regulars and they know who they are.
My kind AC friends are huge into item collecting like I am and help me get things. I heavily take advantage of being in Japan and being able to Street Pass like crazy to help me repay those kind friends to help them get things that they themselves haven't found yet. It works out.
TBT has other random very kind people too though. I may end up only have 1 encounter with some of these people, but they are amazing. It just feels so shocking, after dealing so long with rude, mean people on the internet or Xbox Live or other places. I have met a lot of great people on TBT who do these unexpectedly nice things all the time. I have probably interacted with over 50 *different* people here on TBT since the game came out, and 99% of those people? Awesome.
