I just take my time when it comes to decorating
Has anyone else been neglecting their house?

I've been focusing more on decorating my island than my house. I have three rooms that are kind of decorated, but only one that is completely decorated. I made the attic my bedroom and I'm really happy how it turned out, but I haven't really thought about how to decorate the others. The three kind of decorated ones will probably be changed too completely, especially since the one is full of diy recipes. I've also been leaving them partially empty to store turnips each week.
My house looks like a junk shop. Every wall item I have is on the walls. Every rug from Sahara that I can jigsaw onto a floor is out. Every room is a jumble of items so crowded you can *just* navigate through without impacting HHA scores. Things are out just for the feng shui or extra (presumed) points for being a rarer item. I hit 150,000 points this week so maybe I'll start to decorate properly. I feel like I still have hardly any furniture. Nook's Cranny hardly ever seems to have house furniture for sale, it's always random items that don't help me decorate the way I want to. Also my rate of receiving duplicate DIYs is increasing since I have so many recipes already so the ones on the floor is out of control again. I was able to pick them up Saturday night but I swear they've doubled since then.
Outside mostly looks nice though, even though I'm in the process of redoing my residential neighborhood which is going to take me I guess the next two to three weeks depending on how efficient I am on moving villager houses.

i've started getting into decorating my house!

For real tho, I already have two accounts on my switch and neither of them has anything other than random stuff everywhere and diys on the floor lol, well its only my 2nd week so I'm mostly catalog trading so it's easier to find items if I have them on storage rather than placed on a room
but I really wanna get it over with.
My house has like 2 items in it and the rest is spare DIY and turnip storage. I probably won’t be working on my house anytime soon while I still have these DIYs everywhere, but I likely will if/when they update the game and finally let us put these items in our storage.

I am sort of. My problem is I visited some catalog islands so I can finally fix up my house... but now I'm limited to ordering 5 things per day. And I don't TT. Oh, and I was trying to order furniture to decorate my island already. *sigh*

I have designed all rooms except the basement, which is my DIY dump room. I have a kitchen/living room in the main room, guest room on the left, music/entertainment room on the right and bathroom at the back. My study/bedroom is on the top floor. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do for all the rooms to be honest. In New Leaf I would never add side rooms because I like my houses on the smaller, cosier side. The furniture in this game is also not inspiring me lol. I'll probably wait for a while until I finish the basement. Other than the DIYs on the floor, I like using the basement to display some of my favourite Saharah wallpapers and floorings on rotation. It's likely I'll turn my basement into some kind of outdoor room eventually!
i mostly neglected it for the first 2 months of the game LMAO, but yesterday i suddenly went on a house-decorating frenzy, and i decorated my main room, side rooms, and upstairs (back room and basement still to go! i have no idea what i'm going to do in them) all in one day lol
it's been really fun, and i like the change! suddenly i'm less obsessed with buying flowers or landscaping/terraforming, and i'm interested in cataloging as much as i can and crafting a ton of furniture. i'm glad i started paying more attention haha

haha none of my rooms are done because nook's cranny keeps selling looms and other junk
Omg you are describing my exact problem! I always say I'll start after my island is done but who knows. My upstairs rooms is pretty much done but that is it. My storage has a ton of things I just keep stockpiling because I think I might want them but who knows. I feel like I will start to decorate when I finally do fill up my storage because I need that space for clothes!
I've been doing the same. I've been focusing more on the island layouts and decorations.
That's also part of my reason. If they had all the items I used to decorate my house in New Leaf, then I'd be set on how I want to decorate my house. But they don't, so now I'm just unsure of what to use.

I've barely touched it. Upgraded to one extra room but it's full of crap lol. I probably won't do anything to it until my island is close to, or how I want it. And that's a far time from now lol.

For sure, my town is my priority right now! I'm waiting for more of the furniture sets to return as well as furniture I actually like and want in my house too LOL
