3rd Saturday of November: Fishing contest
4th Thursday of November: Harvest Festival

During the Harvest Festival you will need to collect and trade items with town villagers. Whilst you can still gather all of these items during the event itself, you can also start collecting today in case you don't have a lot of time to play. I suggest starting today since some items are hard to find.

The list (in spoiler) comes from tumblr: animalcrossingus

I'm in the beginning of December now. I was mostly prepared for the Harvest Festival when I did it, but here's some suggestions that could help you guys.

The villagers in their houses will be wearing chef outfits. If you give them the fish they ask for, they will give you the missing items of the recipes (such as vinegar or butter) that you can't normally get on your own. Here's some tips for that.

- Make sure to have all of the items you can get yourself for the recipe (such as mushrooms, fish, fruits, whatever is required) in your inventory. That way you're more guaranteed to get the exact missing item from the villager. If you don't have all of the items, they might give you an item you can get yourself, like a fruit.

- ANY of the chef villagers will give you the item you're missing. So write down what fish each chef villager wants. Whoever wants the easiest to find fish, then give them the fish they're asking for. You can ignore everyone else. Once you give them the fish they want and they give you an item, they will now be looking for a new fish. You can actually give fish to the same villager for every recipe missing item if you want and ignore the other chef villagers. That's why I suggest always giving fish to whoever wants the easiest to find, most common fish.

- There are 2 items you can only get from the Harvest Festival, the fruit basket and the cornucopia. Try to figure out what the extra ingredient is for each recipe and give that to Franklin so you can get these two items. The chef villagers will give you hints when you give them fish. You can also look on Thonky if you don't feel like trying to figure it out.

Just wondering because when I played through the Harvest Festival, it never happened to me.

But if you are missing an ingredient and it is a mushroom, would the villagers give you one because you are missing it?

I found that every ingredient requested was available that day. But gosh, it was much less stressful to just check inventory and grab the fish, fruit etc. The game seems to know when you are on the hunt for something.

I just completed Toy Day. Hope someone continues giving out helpful advice. It's no different than those who look up how to start the game and get the look you want, etc. Back to Harvest Festival, it would have been nice to have received a gift for each completed course. And the music will drive you nuts.

Sounds good to me. Thanks a bunch.

I did the event because I probably won't be able to do it the day of so after I did it, I sold everything else. If I do have time, it's good to know that I can get it from the villagers.

I had no clue what to do and didn't want to spend that much time on actual day. That's why my second game is ahead. Trying to enjoy it before real life blast hits.

nice list but thonky is better. it gives you the exact number of what you need.

You don't need all of the items it says though. I collected the Thonky stuff in advance and I didn't need most of it. It's mainly because you only make 4 recipes.

Also, the Thonky list doesn't help for everything. The fish the chef villagers ask for are random. They are fish that you can catch that day, so I guess you technically could prepare for the randomness in advance if you caught several of each and every fish. I don't think it's worth doing that though.

Saturday is the fishing festival. I'm putting all my fish in the museum for the festival.

Thank you for posting this, it didn't even occur to me to collect the items beforehand. After reading this post and the thonky page for this I will be collecting stuff starting today. I wish I had read this yesterday cause I caught 2 lobsters an abalone and a dab and I would've kept them. And I've been selling all the mushrooms I've found, now I'll be saving the ones I need. Thanks again.
