For this one, easily Twilight. It has far more relatable characters, the passion is more driven, more mature themes, it doesn't have an LOLDESTINY character. Harry Potter is about an evil snake demon who terrorizes a bunch of teenagers learning magic in a castle. Twilight is about a teenage girl who falls in love with a beautiful vampire, with mythology that actually branches into its on type, like how vampires sparkle.
It's an easy pick tbh
Please tell me you're trollin. Where.. the hell.. has it ever been said that vampires sparkle? Nosferatu was one of the first vampire 'literatures' and set the standards for the entire genre. There was nothing in there about vampires sparkling in there. Next we have the original Dracula. Again, sunlight actually kills the vampires... no sparkly. So I have no idea where you got the mythology part.
AFTER THAT. You have the vampire chronicles series. (See: Interview with a vampire, disregard the Queen of the damned if the movie comes up. Great stand alone, not even close to the book) Again, homosexual vampires yes, but still dying in fire caused by, you guessed it, sunlight. The original routes of vampire tales can all be traced back to Nosferatu, but every author has a spin on the story on what they can and can't do while at least trying to stay close to the original.
Now why do vampires burn in the sunlight? Well, in most folklore, it's said that the selling of their soul and a promise to a lord of darkness makes them unable to see the sunlight or touch it without burning to death. Other more recent stories say that they have an extreme allergic reaction to UV rays (which is a true disorder.) But.. the Twilight version of this vampire doesn't seem to have lost anything in their exchange to become a vampire.. there needs to be something that someone has to give up in order to make it more realistic.
Lets look at another recent vampire story that has to deal with a tragic heroine, Moon Child. In moon child one of the main characters is a vampire that burns in the sun, and has all of the original vampy traits. He falls in love with a woman and vice versa, however she hates him for what he is, and marries his best friend instead. There is no LOLDESTINY, there is no sparkling, and the story actually has a sad exchange for the power granted by becoming a bloodsucker.
Just sayin.
