Hacking the Game

Wait you hacked HM? Which one?

I believe it was harvest moon ds cute (way back a long time ago). I think it was through the action replay and some other hacking device.
I needed the time to slow down (and for the character not to get tired lol)
If not it was impossible to finish the day.

The sims I used mods and such online that I would download into my file.

Oh nice, I wish I could buy some AR for my games. But I'm not sure if those are sold for the 3DS system anymore.

Personally, I don't hack, and don't plan to. I have a tough relationship with perfectionism, and I think being able to learn from my past mistakes (those being; PWPs not having the ideal placement, rocks being in the way, beach entrances, etc. etc.) and working with them & around them, gives me a unique perspective on life and how much influence your current actions have on your future.

As weirdly spiritual as that may sound, I really do believe that working with these 'limitations' and looking for solutions other than 'get rid of the problem altogether' is quite enjoyable. I feel like it makes my town unique to me, quirky and 'imperfect' as it may look. The 'perfect map' may not be perfect for everybody, and the 'regular map' may become your own 'perfect map' with time.

Yeah this is basically the reason why I don't try to get into hacking until I've truly experienced a game and I don't feel like there s a whole lot of new stuff left to experience. I like trying to work around the limitations of the town given to me and spend all that time plot resetting. Makes me feel a lot better about the end result, like it was really worth it.

I personally like hacking. It’s not that bad honestly, just as you don’t affect or crash others and their file. I played my first town legitimate and my second copy, I was able to make pretty amazing things I couldn’t do with just a regular copy without hacking. As for hacking items, yeah it’s not legit way to obtain them. But, after all it is the item. Who will notice?

1. No, because hacking sounds like a complicated thing and just getting one step wrong could jeopardize your entire town, and I don't want to do that. I rather play it the way it is intended.

2. I never have plans to get a second copy of this game so no.

3. Absolutely not. I've read a few posts on this thread here saying that they do it to solve some of their issues (e.g. town name, pwps, etc.) and I'm fine with it. I went to a hacked town a few months ago where there are cool glitches that can be performed (not gonna tell what though). However, those who have intentions to bear ill will towards other people is NOT okay for me and I would feel scared and intimidated. That's why I always flip off the wifi switch on tortimer island if hackers and their malicious hacks could potentially bleed into my town.

Myself, I could never hack New Leaf. I wanted to really badly for years. Since 2015 I've been dying to try it out, and once I finally was able to do it, I was just bored by it. Despite having the choice to do it, I feel like the game wouldn't be fun anymore if I don't work for it. This is just my opinion on it. I have absolutely no problem with other people doing it. What's the point of criticizing someone else for how they like to play the game? Nothing can be gained from it and there's no point. As long as everyone is happy, it shouldn't be an issue as long as they're not hurting anyone!

I tampered with hacking on CF and I have a couple of custom villagers but that's about it. I personally have just accepted I like to work for things rather than having them handed to me on the game. I'm that one weird person who doesn't even trade anything on Bell Tree because I'd rather earn EVERYTHING myself. I got all 10 of my dream villagers from plot resetting. It was tedious, but I'm pretty proud of it. :)

TL;DR
Let people play how they want to, even if you wouldn't do it yourself!

I'd love to learn how to hack ACNL, honestly |D My experience with hackers so far has been... really, nothing but positive. They were incredibly generous in using hacked games to get people's favorite villagers, or help make items lost to time and location more available. Now, I do believe in being fully upfront about whether or not things are hacked, and compensation if any should reflect that; and it's really poor taste to sell hacked items for some kinda profit (unless the other party is fine with that- to each group their own, just all the info should be up front. I'm fortunate in that when I was seeking things, I was transparent about being open to hackers & they were transparent about being hackers). The ones I interacted with worked... pretty much free honestly (mostly they just wanted town visits/feedback; some really were just in it for being nice), they were vital in getting my favorite villagers back when I had to reset my game a while back and it's made my playing experience all the more enjoyable \o/

However, I can see where that would come into conflict with more economy based places like here. I've never been too big on huge community hubs, I just kinda sit in my little corner so such experiences don't really register to me |D But I can understand why hacked items/how-tos aren't allowed here, and I make sure to keep my hacked vs legit items very separate, don't want to mix them up to anyone else |D

Now, I probably wouldn't do much to my main town, I've really been enjoying figuring out just how to lay everything out and set it up. I do agree with the idea that... well, that's part of the challenge xD And I don't want to risk losing it. But, if I ever could get a second copy, I'd love to learn how to edit it, especially making custom villagers! That seems like a whole new realm of creativity, I'd love to experiment and make some interactive AC OCs. It's still a challenge and building experience, I'd just want to go the whole way and make as much as I could from, more or less, the ground up |D

The whole point I got into hacking was because a user here a few years ago promised to give everyone every item they wanted on a list. I thought it was very generous and have been giving away items and things to people once I learned how to hack. I don’t think anyone would hack animal crossing just to ruin someone’s save file... I would like to do giveaways on here and maybe something like that user did, except less chaotic and less items.. People had lists of 350 items. Imagine hacking all of that into your game!

Oh yeah, I forgot, if I was able to hack, I'd do a give away like every week. I plan on doin one once I get WiFi -which at this rate who knows how long that will be. But I like the idea of helping other people get items that they were unable to get. Most of my DLC I got from people because I don't have WiFi and no one irl around me plays AC.

Yeah! ^^ I?d love to just be able to find someone trying to finish that perfect decoration set and just go ?hey here?s all of this for free, merry Tuesday have fun!? xD
One hacker who was doing item giveaways was dressed in the Santa outfit when I went to pick up actually, it was pretty hilarious. (... also man it?d be awesome using the Jingle model to make a villager...)

I'm against it personally, because progressing in the game is what keeps me coming back. But, I don't judge others who hack their game. Just, unnatural hacking looks ugly to me (trees inside rivers, furniture items overlapping, etc.).

I wouldn’t risk it. It’s more than cheating. It would destroy your town just like how drug addiction can destroy your body. I would just be happy with the items they currently have in the game while I play legitimately.

The furthest I would go in the path of cheating is time traveling. But that’s not breaking the game in any way.

i haven't ever done any hacking but think it's totally fine!! i've actually been considering doing it recently since i got a new computer that would actually allow me to, and it honestly sounds like it could be fun from what i've heard :)

No, I haven't considered hacking my game or a different town for fun.
My thoughts on it is that it just gives you less to do in a game. The only instance where it would ever be necessary is obtaining items that you can only get through internet once it's removed from the game. (You're also not affecting anyone else in this way as well.) Other than that, it would just devalue items as Tropical has said. It just seems generally boring.

I'd prefer not to hack your game because, WHY OH WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BREAK YOUR GAME! HACKING IS BRICKING YOUR GAME IF YOU DO NOT HANDLE HACKS PROPERLY.

I'm to dumb for things like hacking so I wouldn't do it cause if I ruined my game I'd cry and be very upsetti spaghetti. When it comes to other people hacking though, I don't really care as long as they aren't being malicious with it. Like if it harms no one. It does intimidate me a bit as someone said previously..
I went to the island and saw that one huge teddy bear being sold there, it was the first thing i saw arriving and it spooked me LOL. a balloon and massive cake were also being sold.. Those arent buyable on the islands correct? Ive seen other hacks as well on there and they all just make me feel uneasy...

Also another reason i wouldnt hack is that im still kinda new to acnl so that would just ruin the fun for me. i mean this applies to old players too though I see. but yeahhh! thats my thought on this.

I don't have any of my games or consoles, I'm happy to play them as they are. If others want to hack, that's up to them. Not my problem.

I do avoid those forum shops with suspicious amounts of wrapped clovers and endless hybrids though lmao!
