Hacked towns?

Hey, I was wondering, what's everyone's thoughts on hacked towns? Like, are you against them, couldn't you care less, ect.

Personally, I'm not bothered by them. Animal crossing is just a game, after all. There isn't much of a point of caring, in my opinion

I guess my only gripe with them, is that I like seeing all the possibilities for my town when I look at other people's towns, but that really isn't possible when I look at hacked towns since I don't hack.

I think that everyone enjoys the game in different ways, so a hacker may play animal crossing for a different reason than I'm playing it, and that's fine.

Personally I don’t really hack. I think it’s too complicated and too easy for me to corrupt my game while trying.
My current towns are not hacked, however I don’t mind seeing ones that are. I was very into hacking ( in the Sims games), so I can totally see the appeal. I don’t necessarily think it’s an easy job either and could be just as hard to create a beautiful town hacking or non hacking.


HOWEVER. I am against people hacking their towns to look exactly like someone else’s. I know this is very easily done now and it’s hard to see your hard work replicated with no credit. If you’re going to hack, at least make it your own.

I don?t have anything against people that hack, I would probably try it myself if I had the time.
All of my towns are non-hacked and I?m proud of myself for earning all the badges and getting everything I want in town without hacking. I?ve worked so hard on it that I don?t want to try hacking it and risk losing any of it! However, I think there?s some really cool aspects of hacking and I would totally try it and see all the cool things I could do. I would probably get a second copy of the game and try hacking that one.

i feel like the game is much more fun without hacking ! ^^ i mean dont get me wrong, some hacked towns are absolutely beautiful & i find it really cool when the game glitches,,, but thats just me. haha

Imo, you aren’t really doing anything special of your town is hacked. I mean, you don’t even work for all that stuff. People say it’s a way to show their creativity, but if you’re really that creative, why not play the game as is and achieve all that stuff to make your town the way you like? There really is no effort in it other than the process, and the time they take to start up the program. But it’s not even close to the amount of time we take playing the game normally, the way it was meant to be played. While we spend hundreds and hundreds of hours playing to make our town beautiful, people take a cpuple hours total. If you want to hack, I’m not stopping you, but it just looks boring when you have nothing to work towards. And I don’t enjoy visiting hacked towns. I’d much rather see the effort people put in to make their towns the way it was designed to be played.

I don’t mind hacking. I once tried to hack but I gave up. I’d say there’s nothing wrong with hacking if your not stealing or hurting anyone.

I don't mind people hacking their own town to decorate and stuff, but I don't like it when people use it to steal other folks towns!
like just today, when I was just hopping to random dream towns though Luna.
I ended up in a popular dream town to only find it was stolen.

there have been SO many threads on hacked towns lol... i think all the opinions have already been given.

but yeah, they're fine. if you hack to ruin someone else's game then screw you but if you wanna mess with your town then im all for it! playing the game slowly and legit is more fun imo tho

i don't mind hacked towns at all! one of my favourite dream towns to go to is hacked. if done right, they can look awesome and super nice. however, you gotta make sure everything's good if you are making a hacked town. i once went to a dream town and left in 3 minutes because i could only enter one house. the rest had some sort of invisible barrier preventing me from going in them.

what i'm trying to say is, you can hack your town the way you want to, but when your town has trees and stumps that are too close together, multiple weeds and your town just looks like you've abandoned it for 2000 eons, then expect it to not have a lot of fans.

I think hacking has a lot of great uses tbh. My first town was, for the longest time, not hacked. I really liked the progress I made with it, but I absolutely hated the name of my town and my mayor. I couldn't bring myself to delete it and start over because of all the work I put into it by progressing naturally. But then...I learned about hacking haha. I was able to hack to change the names of my town and mayor, and I finally felt comfortable being able to share my town through DA. Through it, I was able to enjoy the game again.

For my second town, I felt like I saw all there was to see in ACNL through naturally progressing, so I wanted to build this town through hacks. I personally am not a huge fan of putting things beyond their boundaries in game for the most part (e.g., putting plants in rivers), so I mainly stuck with hacking to perfect my town layout/villager placements and for the easy items. Unfortunately, my ANCIENT laptop stopped being able to read my SD card, so I've given up on hacking for items. Now I've just been buying from traders on the forum to finish up my town.

tl;dr, hacking has great uses and i'm not ashamed to say i've hacked~

I don't mind if people hack their own game as long as they aren't hurting anybody or stealing someone else's town. I've seen some beautiful hacked towns that have done some really creative things that would have been impossible through normal game play. But I will never hack because I just wouldn't enjoy it and most of the time when I'm visiting dream addresses I want to get inspiration for my own town, so I prefer to visit non-hacked dream addresses.

non hacked towns provide better inspiration, however, its really freakin fun to see flowers and clovers and trees in rivers and ponds

I disagree with Animal Crossing being just a game. It is a game, but everything in life can be described as "just". "Just love", "just family", "just friends", "just games", "just fiction".
A book is just a bunch of letters printed on paper, but it's what is inside that makes the books special. Same with games. All of art is like a little portal that allows us to see all of those different worlds and have incredible adventures.

As of hacking. Some people choose to hack and cheat - eh, best thing is to not pay any attention to them. If possible - report them but if not - just move on. It's the same as being a thief in real life - there's no point in having anything if you just steal it. The people who do this are the saddest because they tried to abuse these worlds, not to be a part of them and achieve something. Their memories will be nothing but being a thief, using some weird code commands to break the games. It doesn't take much inspiration and care to use some cheat programs and codes...

So, I dislike hacking but honestly - they're hurting themselves, that's all there is to it.

I just meant in the sense that hacking can't effect reality. I didn't mean anything else by it. Although, I guess that doesn't matter when people actually just hack to copy towns, which is something that this thread has made me aware of, that could actually effect someone

I don't mind it at all, I would totally do it if I knew how/wasn't afraid of corrupting the save I've had for nearly 6 years.

I do get jealous sometimes tho of all the awesome things people can do with hacked towns!

its pretty easy and i hate when people are scared of hacking because of save corruptions. yes, your save data can get corrupted but thats only if you don't know how to use the save manager online, which has clear instructions. and also you can make a backup of your save super easy and so haha just wanted to clear that up. there's so many ways to hack your 3ds now, almost anyone can do it with little knowledge of hacking.

its pretty easy - there's so many ways to hack your 3ds now, almost anyone can do it with little knowledge of hacking.

I use a word cheat here 'cause it's actually illegal - regardless if it's easy or not.
