i like seeing villager otps, they're so cute! i even started an art thread on it #shamelesspromo
but what i like even more is seeing the reason behind them honestly

like booker and copper were my friends otp and now i love them and its great cause theyre fun to doodle!! also ankha and lucky are my main otp because just... they go together so perfectly c':

ive actually got a few questions you can answer!!
do you have any adorable otps in your town (bonus question: do the other villagers ship it)
do you ship any of the "main characters" like k.k or isabelle?
& why do you ship them? or are you against shipping the villagers in animal crossing?

In Serenade, I have Apple and Rodney, they look cute together :3, Joey and Scoot will have a bromance (friendship) when I get Scoot In Scrolwrk, Curt and Groucho have a friendship/bromance, then Lucky and Cherry <3

This might seem weird but I pair Beau and Lopez together, although on further thought, I don't really pair them together so much as my other villagers do. They're always talking about how much time they spend together and stuff. And Beau always talks about how ticklish Lopez is... I know this should be random but honestly he's never said this line for anyone else.

Plus, in my town, they're wearing matching outfits...

So, I'm asexual and don't really see the appeal of shipping and otps and the like because I guess I can't entirely relate.

That said, I do sort of pair up villagers in a nonromantic fashion sometimes. It's usually just weird headcanon to breathe some more life into my towns and usually has something to do with the town themes.

Some examples would be:

Ankha & Lucky - Pretty obvious that this has to do with the ancient Egyptian inspirations they both have in terms of their designs.

Marina & Octavian - Most people would probably pair them up romantically since they're both octopuses. However, with me, in my imagination they're aliens (explaining Octavian's space-themed interior design in his home) since you're able to catch an ordinary octopus while deep sea diving.

Cobb & Stitches - I like to look at them as a Dr. Frankenstein and Frankenstein's Monster sort of deal. Cobb is obviously Dr. Frankenstein in this case since he has the mad scientist furniture in his home, while Stitches would be his creation based on stitched-together parts. Sort of dark, but hey, the town they're in is a horror-themed town so why not?

Ribbot & Sprocket (& Del) - Another fairly obvious one, robot buddies. I count Del because he's inspired by a Japanese battleship and looks somewhat mechanical despite not being a full-on robot like the other two.

Knox & Sterling - I look at them as working in cooperation with Copper to guard and protect my all-bird town.

Tammi & Elise - I imagine these two to be the trapeze team for my circus/magic show town.


So yeah, it's all just platonic friendship and this is only tangentially applicable to the topic at hand, but figured why not respond.

bluebear and cheri!!!! even in pocket camp they seem to really enjoy spending time together. plus they're both peppy cubs with fruit-themed names. i love them very much.

I low-key ship Tom Nook and Lyle... I just love hearing their conversations... They're like an old married couple who know each other two well, very much an 'opposites attract' situation haha

They've got such a fun dynamic!!

As for villagers... Now I'm kinda shipping Kyle and Teddy, their houses are close by and they look really cute together, although Jocks and Smugs don't usually get along too well. It's probably just because they remind me of Angus and Gregg from Night in the Woods thought haha

Hmm, I had more pairings for Hollowyn, but since I haven't played that in ages (gotta wait until I'm at WiFi so I can use the amiibo update to keep things from falling apart), I'll stick to my Salem villagers.

Having W. Link move in jump started a few things. Before that, Beardo was the only smug, and he didn't feel much competition from Vic, Roald, or Dizzy.

Beardo and Goldie are a couple.
W. Link would like a shot with Goldie, but I'm not sure if it's just because he's jealous of Beardo or not.
Vic behaves like an uncle to Midge. No romance, but they're definitely fond of one another.
Mathilda and Kitt are sisters (I don't care what Kitt's bio says for April Fool's Day; Mathilda is her big sis).
Both Mathilda and Midge treat Dizzy like a little brother. Someone needs to keep an eye on him.
Epona and Vic have a close friendship. I think Epona would like more, but Vic's set in his ways.
Roald is only in love with himself.
