I have this big vertical space of land. I was thinking of putting something geared to playing with others but I don't know what it would be or if it's too narrow for that

Like a modern town kind of vibe. There's some more nature oriented parts but the plaza and the shops are city like. Like the plaza is main street. This area is pretty far from that, it's right next to some houses

Right now with most of it flat and there not being anything to give me an idea what you really want, it reminds me of an wide open area for an airstrip. Or maybe since that'd be redundant with the airport, you could make some kind of fake railroad. Like give it that NL railroad track vibe.

dogpark? butterfly garden? castle courtyard? orchard? vegetable pens? idk, you could put two small square areas there. i only have one area on my island about this size, and it has the butterfly garden at the bottom, some space above, and then an outdoor gardening area above that.

A cafe area with garden elements would look cute! (I know we have one in the museum now, but you can never have too many)

Maybe outdoor statues/art with seating?

i’m not sure what kind of area ideas you’re looking for or what areas you already have, but the first idea that came to mind was a soccer field. it seems like you have a decent amount of space for one, and it could be cute next to a few houses. any sorts of sports area could be cool, though; a basketball court, a baseball diamond, etc. or maybe a park, garden or community pool area? you could even draw inspiration from the villagers whose houses are near the area. what do they look like, what are their aesthetics, what are their personalities, etc? and create an area that you think would suit all them best, whatever that may be/look like.

I have an area like that on my island where I put all the Mario stuff, including one pipe, and then the other pipe by my garden area. With the island designer, I also made a concrete basketball court and set up a hoop. So it's kind of a random park/outdoor gym lol.

Also started this thing of putting matching beds on the beach. The villagers love to crash on them lol.
