Golden Rod & Net

Hi everyone!
I was wondering what the golden rod and net are so special for. I have both of them, but I'm missing the point of using them! Aside from their general purposes, I was wondering if they had any special abilities like the rest of the golden tool set.

I think they're a bit more swift in catching, but they seem to be more for show than anything in my experience

The golden net has a wider net for a bigger catch radius. The golden rod gives you more reaction time for catching fish.
