Golden Exterior Question

So I've unlocked all HHA golden extetior pieces and now I have a question:
If I use a piece of the exterior, do I lose the ability to use the rest? Since they're unlocked by points?

What do you mean? Lose the ability to use the rest of the gold exterior or regular exteriors? Gold exterior parts are available through Lyle, while the rest is available through Tom Nook's store. So no you can still get both exteriors, just that gold ones are available any time through Lyle.

I mean like, since they're unlocked by points, are they always available even if you completely empty you house? Do they even affect your challenge score? I know it's weirdly phrased- sorry ^_^"

I completed the challenge and changed my house afterwards, surely decreasing the points, and also asked Lyle to get out of the theme challenge. All the rewards previously unlocked are still available through him.

That's what I said, just worded it differently Also, I think that is the point.. Would be lame if you couldn't keep the exteriors after your points drop or you stop the challenge.
