How do you get it efficiently? Have you got it? What's the easiest way to get it without buying from people on this website, I want to get it manually.

-Keep up with what you need through either moridb, or a spreadsheet
-go to all the shops daily and buy what is missing, marking off items. If you don't have many, it's best to buy them all just in case
-take advantage of streetpass homes. You can order 5 items per day for each character, so if you have 4 characters, you can potentially get 20 new items per day
-dig up everything you can and try to collect all the gyroids/fossils. You can keep track of these on moridb as well. There's a thread somewhere in retail where someone will let you catalog all the gyroids for free, I recommend it
-buy genuine art every time Redd comes to town to complete your art collection
-buy all the stationery you can
-participate in bug offs/fishing tourneys to get trophies

the best thing you can do is just buy as much as you can everyday, be diligent, and keep a list.

Thank you! I really appreciate your suggestions because I've been struggling quite a bit.

I used MoriDB and made different catalogs for each type of items. Example I had a sock and shoe catalog.
For those Catalogs I only added items that I was missing. Removed items from each catalog when I found them at the end of the night. Found it was easier to keep track.

Clear the police station and buy items off the villagers. Make sure to request songs each night from K.K. Slider to get all of them.
The songs were the problem in my 3rd town. Once the players catalog them they all got their gold badges.

Holiday Events that give you furniture helps. The Easter Set was the one that got my main town Mayor gold badge.

If you have extra players check their mail for stuff. The villagers and mom sent them the rare letters that can't be ordered.

I'm relatively new here, I'm curious what MoriDB is... I have the official Prima AC NL guidebook, and have been using that as a checklist, but man, it's pretty unorganized in my opinion. For example, I've been playing for about 9 months now & have not yet began any checklists, so I have over 50% catalog (silver badge), so I have a good fair amount of stuff. So I scroll down the lists in the kiosk at Timmy & Tommy's, and I have to jump all over in the Prima guide to mark each item. It's not all neatly in one place. So it takes a long time checking each individual item's page in the index then flipping to it.

Anyways. I've only been getting K.K. songs on Saturday night request nights (got my silver badge for that, too), can you request songs 7 nights a week...?

Moridb is a site where you can keep track of what items you still need. It's a lot more efficient than the guide book probably is.

As for songs -- you can only get one per week, but once your nook store upgrade enough, you can start buying them yourself 7 days a week.

I've got it, there is an acnl app which keeps track of all your progress from the museum items to every catalogue item.
You only need 80% item catalogue for the badge, so I'm still 2 items missing :( but that app is really good

I use a spreadsheet to keep track of what I have and what I have not collected. The android app works really well too.
To get more items to catalog you can also send your villagers letters with presents in them and hope for a present back! Also, let your villagers come over and go to their houses to get a present from them the next day. c:

Is there an app I can download to keep track of the items in my catalog? (like Moridb, is that an app as well as a site like im not sure lol, an app would be more convenient) but can someone link me to the site used for cataloging?

Thank you for all of the suggestions, though! it actually really helps (:
