Gifting customised furniture

Why can’t villagers accept my customised furniture when I try to give them a gift? I cant wrap customised items or send them in the mail... I just want to give Shari this bed that I made

for some reason you also can't gift customized items to players! I was so pumped and ordered like 10 mugs to slap my flag on them as souvenirs lol, only to find out you can't wrap them neither drop them on someone's island.

Does the furniture you're giving them have a custom design on it? It'll be represented as a yellow leaf if it is. I know you can't give those ones to other players, but I didn't realise you can't give them to villagers that's kinda weird! Since if they move out their house is reset (I believe? If their houses aren't reset then that would explain why you can't give them custom design furniture )

Custom design furniture can't be gifted (I think it can't be dropped/picked up by a friend either?) Because they need the pattern you put on them to work, and the player you're giving the item to won't have the pattern in their designs.

Yeah, I was wondering if they implemented this in case of designs that could be deemed "inappropriate" or "offensive".
It is a bit of a bummer though.

Yes they’re the light green furniture leaves - but I just don’t see why you can’t gift them! I made Shari the cutest bed because she still uses a sleeping bag it’s so frustrating :/

It's likely because the items are hard connected to your custom designs (i.e. if you change that design all the items with that design change). It would be nice if villagers could have them while they were on your island though.
