Welcome~

This Photography thread has been a long time coming, benefitting me to focus on editing, organising and deleting photos that I've had for a long while; and so I can have a bit of a back bone when it comes to saying to myself, which image I have taken is good or not.

I also would love to show my photos, to inspire and for others to enjoy.

- Here are my tools I use to take my photos~

Rules for this thread:
  • No photos with people - Either portrait photography, family & friend photography, or street photography; to protect people's privacy - even if they have given me the right - I will not be sharing any of my photography if anyone is in the shot. I may allow shadows, or silhouette photography, as long as I can make sure you can't see the person at all.
  • Very limited street photography / public places - Similar reason to protectiong other people's privacy, this is to help protect my privacy. Something like that. I also will not post any photos that have a clear shot of outside houses, cars. When it comes to some of my sky photos, I will do my best to edit roofs or at the very least, cut out most of it. Although roofs are quite simlar; so it should be alright.
  • I will be honest and say if I have edited a photo - Sometimes, I take a photo but the lighting or colours wasn't perfect, and fixing it up in post changes it dramatically or hardly at all. I may even put a before and after; to see the difference.
  • My photos will not be dated - This could be seen as protecting myself, but it's actually because my camera is very stupid. I got my first Olympus Pen in 2014, and for some maddening reason it has never dated photos correctly. I am pretty sure I even updated my camera date; and it's still behaving like it's 2014. But either way, I like making sure posts are in date order (see my Island/town Journals..) and not having a date can give me freedom of when I post anything I want here or not.
  • Replying/reacting - I am comfortable with people replying and reacting to my posts on the thread. I am not just posting my photos, but do love to converse about them, answer questions and giving advice. I am also putting a selection of photos I have taken, on one post, so you may only want to converse about one or two of them. With reactions, I have had an fun idea. There are times I take a photo of one subject, and sometimes I an unsure which looks better. I might plan to post to get people's opinons on which image looks better, and using the reactions as your choice; I will mention in the post if I need help on the decision. Just an idea for now.
Without further ado, I have picked out five of my favourite images to start off with this first post~

This is a really lovely thread idea! I saw this a while back and meant to comment then something happened that needed my immediate attention and then my scatterbrain forgot. Super sorry! Usually the museum is used for drawings, but I love your photo inspired thread!

I did black and white photography where you have to use solutions in a darkroom to make the pictures come out. It was a really fun learning experience even if I was very amateurish in it. And I managed to get some that I saved all these years later that turned out decent enough.

It's really interesting how something as simple as old weathered wood with a ladybug crawling across it can be captured in photo in such a captivating way. I love all of the pictures you shared on here, they're all beautiful in their own way, but I liked the ladybug one since it's simple nature. It's something a lot of us don't stop to appreciate because we're hardwired to always be rushing. A few days ago I stopped to enjoy the outside a bit more when I took the kitties out and wasn't stressing about getting work done or whatever and it was very lovely just appreciating all the little things that surrounded my rural backyard. I saw a lot of bugs that I often just didn't notice and they were very pretty in their own unique way.

I know this topic is 2 months old so I understand if you're not willing to share more, but if you do I'd love to see them. ❤️

Thank you so much~💕
And I definitely will be adding more, I've only just gone through - hmm, two out of five of my SD cards; and that was just moving them over into different folders before actually going through and organising them. But I have done a lot, so I might have some more to post either Friday or weekend depending on what I'll be upto.

I had the idea to make this thread for a long while, but I had to be more organised and actually sit down and well, as said in the first post; be willing to delete, make edits and what would be sensible to show.
And photography is an art as well~ Heck, there's some photos I've taken that I don't think are too good, but willing to use them as references for an art piece I may one day make.

When I was in college actually, I got the chance to try out the dark room too! Oh, I so miss it! I sadly, only have one picture I took and it was of a clock XD I would love to use dark rooms again, I actually have an old camera stored away somewhere.

I'm glad the ladybuy photo was the one that you enjoyed. I think I took that picture on a whim. But I do love nature photos like that myself. I'm always captivated by the little things, or things people wouldn't think of taking a picture of. When I am around nature, I usually take in my surroundings, so I feel like I notice things or watch enough to see something special.

I hope my other nature photos will show that as well. Expect a lot of pictures of trees! I just love 'em. And I love taking pictures of leaves, and being able to see all the patterns on a leaf looks so amazing to me.
