Ok, so my friend recently brought ACNL to play with me and we've tried everything. I know for sure its not my internet considering the fact I can join other towns and go to the island with other people from my country. Its my friends, she can't join my town nor can I join her town. We've tried everything we've read about the way to fix it but the thing is my friend doesnt have a router and we both don't understand any of it. Honestly sick of it.

Wait, your friend doesn't have a router? how does she have internet then? If you are visiting locally there shouldn't be a problem but if shes visting VIA internet she needs to have her 3ds hooked up to wifi for that

I mean she does have a "router" but not really. It's just a box connected to the wall. So we actually dont really know how to change the setting on her "router"

Okay, I've had this same issue. Has she ever played online on her 3ds on any game before or is this the first time she is playing online?

It's either she has a router or she does not. I don't exactly know how you don't "really" have a router. Her 3ds is connected to the wi-fi, right? Either that or it might be the firewall settings.

Yes it is connected. But how exactly does she change the firewall settings?

@bonjohnp4ever still very confused i dont really understand the IP, Subnet Mask and the Gateway..

What type of Internet does your friend have? Dial up, DSL, or High Speed? We had Verizon DSL up until about 3 months ago and I couldn't connect my 3DS to the Internet. We finally switched over to Cox High Speed and now I can play with other people.

Im stuck on the DMZ? Im not to sure where to find this.

I looked at the thing you sent me aleshapie, I cant find the UPnP

You need to get these info from your computer and input them to your 3ds' Internet settings. If you're using Windows, try opening "Command Prompt" and enter ipconfig on the C:\Users\SubnetSystems> section. The IPv4 Address is your computer’s IP address.

This is what it looks like:

You can also see the Subnet Mask and the Gateway. BUT when entering the IP address, add 10 to the last digit. Configure your DNS (Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 and Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4)

To locate the DMZ and the UPnP settings on your router, try looking in the router's manual (if you have one OR you can google it).

She's not too sure if it came with a manual and cannot find it on google.

Okay, for now kindly tell her to test the connection first after manually entering the Network IP Address and DNS settings. Usually, just entering the settings manually fixes the issue. If it doesn't, you can proceed to configuring the DMZ or trying Port forwarding.

I hope it works so you guys can start playing online. Good luck. :)
