I'm a very competitive person so I love competitive games like strategic first person shooters, MOBAs, etc. But after feeding my brain too much playing these games, other games have become much less enjoyable. It's very hard for me to sit through a story-driven singleplayer game nowadays. The last game I tried to play was Divinity: Original Sin 2 (which was very fun!) but eventually I lost interest due to competitive games.
So long story short, I try to avoid competitive games. But I'm pretty much hooked on them.

I feel this with certain games. It's obviously just the sunk cost fallacy at work but I will pick up games I don't even necessarily enjoy because of all the time I've put into them.World of Warcraft... which ironically I love playing... I avoid playing it because I love it and it WILL be the only thing I focus on if I pick it up again... plus I don't want to pay $20 usd every 3 months just for me to have access to all the time and work I put into my character...
