So I'm going along in my game balloon flies by and I pop it I got frog cap out of it I thought cool I'll try it on to see how it looks had a hat and bandages on only the bandages got put in my pocket the frog cap ate my hat my hat is gone it does not exist anymore what just happened?

you could try removing the frog cap and see if the cap is still available.. also check inv clothing to see if it's there.

It was not just the cap given by a villager at the start of the game. Im not overly concerned its just very odd its just gone.

That is odd. Did you check your storage? maybe it went there somehow because you didnt have enough space for both hat and bandage? I didnt even think putting that on would remove bandages.
