Free plot qu

Hello everyone! I had 10 villagers on my island then one moved out naturally yesterday. His house is now gone (1st day today) and his plot is empty. My question is how long can it typically take before somebody random will move into that plot?

Just want to know if I should start island hopping like crazy to find someone or if I at least have a couple of days.

In my experience they move in pretty quickly, it would be wise to get onto finding villagers right away as you typically have the day your villagers are packing to leave and the day they're already gone. I had two open plots at one given time and I found a villager to move in. The next day when they were setting up the other plot was already bought without my control.

it depends! there could be someone moving in tomorrow, or the plot could be open for an entire week, actually.
