Let's start some harmless speculation... what could this door lead to in a future update? (This is the door at the end of the fossil exhibit.) I think it might lead to the gyroid exhibit, since they are related to death.) What does everyone else think?

+1 for gyroid exhibit! i think that's a great idea and a great way to make digging x spots more exciting (been done with fossils for a while now).

ohhhhhh a gyroid exhibit would be fun. i never bothered with the gyroids in past games and want the chance to redeem myself lol. a planetarium would be cool too, though i don't think it would fit in with the theme of the fossil exhibit lol. idk how they might incorporate that. celeste or space gullivar?

In my opinion its one of the Four:

A: Gyroid Exhibit (like many others said)
B: The Cafe
C: Just a random decoration thats supposed to represent a backroom
D: Some new feature not yet heard about in ACNH

I think it might just be for show since museums have a lot of backroom entrances that only staff can enter, but who knows!

I feel like it would be a very odd place to put a cafe. I definitely wouldn't visit the cafe that often if it were to be there. I think there's a door like that in the fish exhibit, although not as obvious.

A dino themed Michelin star restaurant where they serve t-rex pudding to pterodactyl scrambled eggs.
Honestly if there was a fossil themed restaurant, I feel like I would constantly make jokes of the Parks and rec episode where they go to Jurassic fork.

But I'd love a Gyroids exhibit. It would give me a reason to collect them all!

wait why are gyroids related to death lmao!

Gyroids are based off of Haniwa; terracotta clay figures that were made for ritual use and buried with the dead as funerary objects during the Kofun period

Seeing how everything in the museum is there/designed for a reason (floor circle in aquarium meant for Jellyfish/space upstairs in lobby for gallery) I'm going to say that may lead to the gyroid exhibit.

But I'll go farther to that the exhibit will also connect to the art gallery. As I find that would be fitting for them.

Wow thats pretty cool, I never knew that! Even though its "morbid" I feel like it would be cool if AC found a way to tell you about gyroids & Haniwa in the games, because if not for your comment I would have never made that connection

Tbh I could be wrong, hopefully I am, but I think it's just a random door they added to make it look more like a museum like a storage place or something idk.

Or an amphitheatre!

I'm going to add to my post.
it could maybe be like a planetarium or an amphitheater or some kind of big audience Hall that somebody could do a speech in or something! It definitely has that double door look

I like the idea of a gyroid exhibit! I think that, or the addition of new fossils, would be the two things that would make the most sense for that space.

I wouldn't like it if the café or another new feature was buried that deep, seeing how much time it would take for you to access that space every day.

Gyroid exhibit would be cool!

...But, if I'm being honest, I think it's just a random decoration to look like a back staff room. This museum has lots of cute little details like that, I don't think that door is anything special, really.

That being said, I think there MAY be a Gyroid exhibit eventually- but I imagine they'll just rework the entrance area, like they did when the art exhibit was introduced. It would be weird to have to go through on exhibit to reach another, or to reach anything for that matter.
