I've been reading different information on how we can force villagers off our island. Can anyone confirm whether or not you can force a villager out with an amiibo camper when your island has reached the ten villager maximum?

You can. If you try to invite a villager from your campsite when the town has 10 villagers, you'll get a dialogue where you select a resident to evict.
But this is where things get risky atm. See this thread.
Tldr; If you force the villager out with an amiibo, and let them move out naturally without anyone speaking to them, it's fine.
HOWEVER if someone comes over and tries to adopt the villager you're evicting, things can get hella glitched. So if you force a villager out with amiibo, you're better off just letting them go, and do not try to trade them.
