I don't have a second character and don't plan on making one. Would rather not have more than one house cluttering up the island since space is hard to come by. Maybe I'll get ideas for a second house though.
I have multiple extra player characters, for multiple reasons. The primary incentive came from the need for more storage space since mine has been in constant flux between full and just under full for months. There is also the factor that my island is themed around world history and various cultures, so I wanted to have more cultures represented. Being able to get more stuff from the special NPCs (Celeste, CJ, Flick, Gullliver, Gullivarr, Redd) is also a nice bonus. It also permits me to use wallpaper, flooring, and furniture that would otherwise have gone to waste.
As of right now I have 6 player characters, with the intention of having all 8 that are possible, once I come to some final decisions. I kind of rotate which ones I dedicate actual playtime to so as to spread the love around a bit, but at the very least I have all of the extras at least go to the Nook kiosk to get their 300 daily Nook Miles, as well as talk to Sable every day to get all of her patterns.
I have 8 characters total. I'm trying to make the most out of this save file since buying another Switch is very expensive just to have a second island. I love to decorate with different themes and have extra storage with these characters. There are so many cool animated wall paper and flooring out there haha.
I've been contemplating making a second playable character on my island, mainly for storage reasons, and so I can decorate more than 1 house. Also so that with 10 villagers, my map would be an even number. Just wondering why else other people do.
I feel that I will be making another playable character soon but only because they can hold more designs that way to decorate my town haha Though, I do love how the player characters homes look in particular and I might try to make more of them or so if I can.
i have 2 extra characters. I made them mostly to get extra art from redd(if he would stop having all fakes for a change). i also use them to get extra diy bottles from the beach, mermaid items(pascal only wants to give my main pearls) and you can get variations of the mom items from them. im just happy they dont get mail all the time like in nl, their mailboxes were constantly making the i'm full check me noise and it got really annoying.
I haven’t made any because the gameplay in NH wasn’t quite as immersive as I had hoped. But I’d planned on having three extra characters for my town theme, and I may still do so, since my island currently feels empty and barren with the amount of unused space since we aren’t allowed to exceed the same villager limit we had in a town half this size.
I made a character for my sister, but she doesn't have a lot of time to play so I log on her villager for extra mom items, Redd, Pascal and Gulliver visits. Also when my little cousin comes over I let her play with that character so she can decorate/dress up however she wants with messing with my house, hah.
I havent made a second profile yet buuuut i have been planning to make one so that i could make my island have some type of cool story to it with 2 humans and all the villagers. I would like my island to tell the story of an ex-mafia mob or something dumb like that LOL
It is amazing for storage. I only have one extra character and upgraded her to the first expansion.
A second character isn't needed, ever, but kind of fun if you want to decorate another house in a specific way,. Perhaps themed.
More storage if you haven't upgraded fully yet
Storing duplicate DIY's
Personally I love the idea of making extra character's for new storylines ^^ It's just fun to me
Nope. I would if it could be part of my main account. I made a second account in ESO to make more money and that ended up being a huge mistake; I ended up burning myself out really fast. I know these are two different games. I honestly used to get stressed from time to time with NL; more so later when I had too much stuff that wouldn’t all fit in my storage. And forgetting why I even had that stuff was an issue too. lol. I just think it’s kinda a hassle to make another account and remembering (or looking up my passwords all the time.
Yup, i made a second house because i wanted to decorate so bad and was already finished with my house.
my mom and my roommate also have houses on my island so i get extra EXTRA storage lol
I do. I originally made it for storage uses, along with if I had a friend come over and they wanted to play. It works out pretty nice. I love an even 12 people, plus having the storage, extra house, and just general spare is nice. I would recommend it completely, since I have found no real down side to it.
i have 3 characters in total - my island rep and 2 alt characters. the main reason for this is i had come up with way too many room ideas that wouldn’t fit in just one house and so, to try and make my ideas a reality, i obviously would need more rooms which meant i’d need more houses aha. i’ve also used my alt characters for pascal, redd, gulliver and obtaining more daily diys per day but the main reason for creating more characters is i wanted more than 6 rooms to decorate lmao
I do not so far. All of my towns since the original game have only had one character. I’ve seriously thought about adding a second character in ACNL, and I suspect I may do so in ACNH, but I’ve never actually do it. Historically, I’ve had multiple towns on the GCN game and ACNL, allowing me to get around character limitations somewhat, but since that isn’t possible in ACNH without buying a second Switch, I may add a second character sooner rather than later.
My main concern has been that it’ll weird to have villagers comment on my “secondary” character, and that it won’t really feel like “my” town anymore. Plus, I can’t settle on what to name my secondary character. But I really like the idea of having more storage space and getting to decorate more houses, which would be my main motivation for doing so. I always have lots of decorating ideas, but not enough rooms to use for them. In the 3DS era, I played Happy Home Designer to explore my designer flexibility without needing more space, but making more players seems like an excellent way to do that as well.
