Flora's gender

Okay, so something weird just happened in my game. I was talking to one of my villagers, Alli the snooty alligator, and she started to talk about how she wanted to give me a shirt and it was just a regift, Flora the peppy ostrich gave it to her originally. When she talked about Flora she used male pronouns. This really startled me because I thought Flora was definitely female.

So what is Flora? Is this just a weird game glitch?

I would think so. But is it for a language other than English? I never had any of my villagers refer to her as a male when I had her. But again, I didn't have her for too long, so maybe I just didn't see it.

It happens with female villagers. It's not just specific to Flora.

On the animal crossing wiki, it says that Uchi personality villagers are often refered to by other villagers with Male pronouns; due to the "older sister/sibling" mentality associated with the Uchi personality.

Uchi (ウチ Uchi, or アネキ Aneki) ('big sister') is a type of personality introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Uchi villagers are very caring towards the player and are less vain than the snooty or peppy villagers, but they are also more blunt and tomboyish and may come across as rude on some occasions. Uchi villagers normally wake up at 11 AM and sleep at 3AM, and there are 21 of them. This happened to me once with Whitney calling Diva a he when she's also female.

It happens with female villagers. It's not just specific to Flora.

Oh. I'll try to not be shocked then if I hear that sort of odd talk.

The lava lamp? Ah...that would be weird. I need to get one, first. I've never had it in my shop and it would look great in my Blue Room - if I get it and Cyrus doesn't mess it up. Or unless it comes in blue...

Just a simple translation error. Gender-neutral pronouns don't always translate over perfectly.
