How much of your island is flat land vs. cliffs (second level and higher)? Just curious!
If you do have cliffs, do you like to keep them at the back of your island? Or do you have cliffs at the front of your island too?

I’ve made most of my town on the 2nd and 3rd elevations. I have like 2-3 acres on the ground level, not including the beach. I wanted most of my town to be on higher elevations.

and I have the cliffs on the front and back.

I'd say it's about 50/50, but I have very few 3rd level cliffs. I really like ascending inclines and going up and down around my island so I kinda like it a bit hilly

I have an absolute mountain forest town in the works, so there are cliffs everywhere

My island is mostly on higher ground. I have varying levels specially at the back part where it’s more natural. I like the look of cliffs and how much depth and dimension they add to the landscape. My very own residence (an area I share with Marshal) is actually a three-tier compound. My downtown area only has the museum raised and the rest of downtown is on flat land.

Hmm.. I'd day my ratio of flat land to cliffs is 40:60.

I'd say 60% is flat, 30% is the second level and 10% is the highest level. I do like the variety, I'm not creative enough to make a flat island work. 😅

I'm planning on having a majority of my island be cliffs (because I like the variation) with some patches of "flat" land that are accessible through small trails. Although my only worry is that I'll run out of inclines to place so I have to get strategic with it.

Most of my island is flat land, I've got a couple areas with cliffs including where my museum is and my residential area, but other than that it is mostly flat. I keep the cliffs towards the back of my island excluding one heart shape cliff near the front which I'm not sure if I want to keep or not. I'd consider making more cliffs, but I already used all my inclines!

This is mine. I don't think it is for a lack of creative on my part, I just prefer having as much "usable" space as possible and cliffs make it hard to do that.

Mine's mostly flat since my Residential District takes up a large portion of the right side of my island, but I wish I planned more cliffs into my design, but I'd run out of inclines to place.

I have my museum, some villager houses, and a future garden I'm planning currently on the second level and my home and campsite are on the third.

Excluding beaches, approx 45% is completely flat, 35% raised town area, 20% higher cliff area.

i dislike how flat lands look so a good chunk of my island is leveled! I have flat spaces on the east and west of my islands only where I have huge gardens

I wish we could place more inclines, I've used them all on the cliffs at the back of the map and on an extra cliff on which I've put my house. I like the island to be easy to navigate onto so I don't see myself removing any existing inclines, but I definitely wish I could place at least two more so I could add some more high grounds...

Ugh. Seriously. Why couldn't it just be 16 total bridges/inclines? Why must it be eight of each?! Who's going to need EIGHT bridges (rhetorical question, I know there are probably people out there who want more than eight bridges).

My original idea made use of 11 inclines. ;~;

Mostly flat and some cliff, I'm not creative enough to do anything cool with mine lmao.
Part of me honestly feels like I should've never terraformed 😅

I haven't really touched my original island layout much at all in terms of cliffs except to make adjustments here and there. My main residential area is on the flat land right behind RS, as is a northeastern section, shopping district and the orchard on westside. Looking at my map I'd say a good 70% is flat land. I might consider changing that some, but as I'm not TTing and I don't have a concrete concept of what the finished island would look like (probably be years before I get to that point) it's gonna be a slow process, tackling projects one at a time.

I didn't do much change to my original map, other than making a straight line along the 2nd level cliffs for houses to go against them. I'd say it's at least 60-70% flat, which is fine.
