Fishing vs. Bug catching: Which do you prefer?

Fishing is one of my favourite activities in all video games, and before New Leaf it was my main way of making bells. I hardly ever fish now in New Leaf, but I still love it... although I'm not too good at shark-catching!

I love catching bugs! I've completely finished my encyclopedia for them. c: I've never had trouble creeping up on them, and I don't go crazy with catching the wrong thing (stupid seabasses...). I often go to the island and make a profit off of rare bugs. ^-^

Tip for catching scorpion/tarantula: If you ever run into one of these bugs, grab your net and hold 'A'! They won't attack you while you're holding your net. You can creep up without them attacking you or disappearing. Good luck!

Oh you're right! I didn't think of diving, as I consider it part of fishing for some reason.

I much prefer bug catching. Fishing is very frustrating for me as they can bite any moment and it's so easy to miss when it's a rare fish. Bug catching is a quick, easy way to get bells.

they are both fun but I would agree that fishing is more relaxing. Also it's kinda fun to have the surprise of seeing what you caught.

I like fishing better. It's so relaxing to just stand on a cobblestone bridge with your fishing rod and try to catch some fishes in the river. I love it!

it depends for me, really ;; i either subconsciously press the A button whilst fishing, or i let go of the A button whilst sneaking up on bugs. i think i drove away 2 coelacanths and lost count on how many golden stags that flew off = n =

bug catching, I'm faster at it and more accurate than when I fish... usually if I spot it I can catch it, whereas for fishing I sometimes get nervous and press A too fast/too slow

I'm really bad at bug catching, so I prefer fishing ;w; It leads to trouble, though, when I burn through my fishing catalog yet my bug catalog is only like 25% full. The only reason I ever get those badges for catching a lot of bugs is because of the island haha...
