Do you prefer fishing or bug catching! Tell us why!

As far as I'm concerned I've always liked fishing A LOT in AC.
It's one of my favorite things to do, and it's the most relaxing to me.
I remember back when I played WW with my friends and my brother,
I would do all their fishing on their characters to complete their museums, hahaha!
And they would do bug catching for me, as I tend to find it frustrating.

I much prefer fishing! I hate having to sneak up on bugs so slowly, and it's annoying if you scare them away by accident. :p

The only reason I say bug catching is because I know what I'm getting. I really enjoy doing both bug catching and fishing, but the fishing takes longer and you seldom know what you are getting. It drives me up the proverbial wall.

I am now pretty much an expert at both, except for being able to catch, let alone even find, the stupid tarantula, scorpion, and dung beetle. ARGH!!!

Ooooh the tarantula is quite the pesky one!
I had trouble with it in WW. I have yet to encounter it in NL, we'll see this summer how it goes, hehe.
And as for fishing, you'd be surprised!
After a while you can pretty much tell by the fish's shadow what it's going to be.
I get it right about 90% of the time, lol! I make it a game to try and guess before fishing.

Same here! And when you accidently run past a rare one, UGH!
And they're all over. The fish you know where to find, hahaha.

I prefer bug catching! I find I'm too 'trigger happy' when fishing and I'll pull the reel before the fish even grabs on, which quite normally causes me to rage quit for a little while (especially if it was a shark, arrgh).

I prefer bug catching, I always tap too soon or too slow when fishing.

Fishing. I'm lazy and it's relaxing. I also like how the fish look/somewhat fond of sea related things

I love fishing! Bug catching is fun when you're on the island where you can get expensive bugs, but fishing for me is just much more enjoyable. I think it's because they're more expensive overall. :)

Though I usually do bug tours on the island because they're less repetitive, overall I've always preferred fishing. I find bug catching a lot harder to do because it's really easy to scare bugs away.

Probably bug catching. Fishing is hard because I have to do it with the volume turned up and listen for the trigger, and sometimes I reel it in too fast or too slow. With bug catching, it's faster and creeping isn't so bad. Plus, I'd probably get my gold bug catching badge faster than the fishing because all I gotta do is go to August and catch all the cicadas cause those are the easiest, most frequent bugs in the game. xD

The best day to catch a tarantula is on summer solstice day. It's bright out late at night and easy to see. Just carry a different tool and go about your regular day. One showed up on the screen while I was talking to a villager. Another while I was fishing.

Scorpions like to show up on firework nights. Found mine at the top of the event plaza. Again I was just talking to Isabelle. Another one tried to hide in red tulips. Removing some flowers and PWP to make some open spaces helps draw them in.

For me I prefer bug collecting. My hand has numbness due to an injury. Fishing and diving are hard to do for along period of time.
Happy that I'm done all the fish and diving now.

Ooh...those are great pointers. I am absolutely determined to catch those blasted bugs! Actually, if I can, I'd love to catch two so I can keep one as a "pet" just to show that I can. I only ever saw a tarantula once and it bit me before I even knew they existed in the game and I saw a scorpion only once and it got away. I'll be sure to clear the areas and try the Summer Solstice. That is quite clever to be able to see them! That would never have occurred to me.

As for those of you who recognize the fish shadows - all I can say is that you all are very discerning! I mean, I can tell sometimes with the more 'average' fish, but mostly I only can tell the obvious ones such as the sharks (duh!) eels, and what may be a Napoleanfish, Giant Trevally, Tuna, Arawana, and the super tiny ones that are likely Sea Butterflies, Clownfish, and Seahorses. The rest could either be bass, bass, bass, bass, Moray Eel, bass, and the rest Red Snapper, Horse Mackerel, Puffer Fish, and the like. I really can't narrow them down much better. :(

I like catching bugs better. Even though I like fish much better then bugs. Beetle hunting had been really useful and I know what I'm catching instead of getting a sea bass. :P

I love the bug catching competitions. They're much easier and less pickier than the fishing ones. I also am almost done with the bug encyclopedia! Of course... I did miss the winter bugs and that's my fault. :lemon: I'm also getting pretty skilled at catching bugs, too. Lots of practice on the island for gold stags reeeeeeeally helps!

Anyway, I prefer the bug to fishing because there are no limitations during any of them.
