When fishing do you listen for the sound, or do you watch for the bobber to go under? Both methods seem to work just fine, It's more of a preference I suppose. I find it much easier to catch the tougher fish if I just close my eyes and listen for the sound, the bobbing throws me off nearly every time! The easier fish it doesn't matter for me because they are so easy to begin with.

What do you do?

Mostly by sound. Sometimes it's hard to see when the fish bites due to weird angles or trees blocking my view.

I definitely need the sound. I'm still missing the feedback on the wii remote!

Sound. Watching the bobber is never as accurate for me. Things like sharks that don't stay on the line very long I tend to lose unless I listen to the sound.

Studies have been done to see whether reaction times to sight or sound were faster. The results showed that sound cues generated slightly faster reaction times, but the margin was so insignificant that the test results were considered inconclusive.

I mostly go by sound. My thumb tends to get a bit too twitchy whenever I see the fish approaching the bobber, so I just close my eyes and listen.

I usually close my eyes when I'm catching fish, it's easier for me with hearing the splash.

Mostly sound, although sometimes I have it off when I'm already listening to other music (though honestly AC is one of the few games where I turn on my own music just because the OST is already great), but in the case that there IS something distrupting my ability to hear it, then I do focus on the visual aspect.

I find its a lot easier to hear it though. I mess up more often if I can't.

I actually use a visual cue.
I can't click fast enough if I use the sound since it happens a little bit after the bobber goes under.

What I do, is to look at the top (or right above) the bobber.
When it get's pulled under, small water drops are seen, and when I see them I click.
(they don't come unless it's actually time, so I almost never miss or press the button too fast using this method..)

It's really helpful for the faster fish.

(sometimes I even turn off the sound so I can relax XD.. I feel really opposite from the other people who answered this ^^''')

I've tried fishing with the sound off and I kept failing D: so I mainly pay attention to the sound rather than visuals.

When it comes to special fish with their little fins sticking up out of the water, I use both of them to get it. But when I'm just fishing in the river/pond, I just use visual cues.
