Fishing: Easier to HEAR or SEE the fish take the bait?

Hear, no question. Whenever I actively look at the fish I find myself almost tapping A in anticipation. More often than not I've noticed a fish usually bites on the first (if they want to be rude) or third nibble, so subconsciously I prep myself for that. Now I like to close my eyes and just listen. My catch rate is always 100% doing it this way.

Hearing it is so much easier for me! I get an itchy trigger finger if I just try to see it go down.

Hearing the fish is alot easier for me, but I always bring it up too early when I'm trying to catch sharks.. I missed out on 3 sharks tonight cause I was too impatient lol

In the previous 3 games I went solely by sound, I once I saw the fish notice the bait, I would close my eyes and listen. BUT on the 3DSXL the sound is so horribly quite to begin with and I'm usually accidentally turning it all the way down because of the poor location of the volume slider anyway that I cant use that tactic anymore unless I'm wearing my headphones and I usually don't like wearing them, so I have gotten much better at visual catching now.

If I watch the bobber, I never react fast enough. Definitely hear, especially for sharks

I do both, but it's mostly by ear that I can catch the fish. Sometimes the volume has to be all the way up to hear it.
Watching them hit the bobber several times just makes me a bit nervous. It's happened before where I was too early (or late) in pressing the 'a' button... That weird panicked feeling...
I've been getting the same feeling since playing the GameCube version years ago.

Personally, it's easier for me to see it than to hear as I play at night when my mom is in the room across the hall asleep.

I go by hearing...I too, close my eyes and listen for it...I rarely miss doing it that way...I only go by site when I am out and have the volume all the way down and I miss quite a bit that way!

I have a very delayed reaction when I use my sight. However when I listen, I begin to pull as soon as I hear the little 'plop' c:
