I don't ever go on CT, it sounds annoying. I think it's helpful if you want to get the CT exclusive items (or if you enjoy meeting people) but otherwise it's not worth it.

Never catch beetles or anything while on CT! I never do this but I've read stories of people who ended up losing all their progress because of someone making them flip the switch to be able to leave.

how do you get the rare items? are they sold in the same place as the mermaid and cabana stuff or do you have to unlock/earn them?

They're just in the shop, just take a look there every time you go to a CT Island. It's random which items you get, but some people island hop (by going to multiple international islands and resetting) to go through more shops.

I only go there for special items... for like 5 seconds

I just unlocked club tortimer yesterday.
I met someone who was just standing there and doing nothing.

Caught a few bugs, its very laggy when you try to catch them. Did a tour alone and left.

Wait... Club Tortimer can be played online?! I always played it either with my brother or always by myself.
