So I have a town called Luminosa, and its theme is 'a moonlit tropical getaway'. It has alot of bright tropical colours but also the residents have a love for the moon. All the animals are white or have soft tones to them (except future Tangy).
In the resident area I plan on building multiple fire torches. Buuut, I feel as if Illuminated trees will tie in well with the moonlit part of the theme. I need the animals to reccomend to me the torch, but I already have the tree.
So, should I go with a soft glow tree or a bright burning torch? Which matches better?
I prefer the look of the luminated tree, compared to the fire torch. The fire torch to me gives the space a more tropical vibe, I tend to dress my town more elegantly (just my preference)which is why I voted trees. I also like the soft white glow of the trees. If you're really struggling, I would set up both and see which I prefered with the space itself. Goodluck!
Hmm the only reason why I don't like the illuminated tree is because it looks so out of place when it's not lit up. The torch on the other hand looks cool both at night and during the day and it's always lit up (also makes a crackling fire sound iirc...). I would say go with the illuminated tree if the area you are landscaping is more "manicured" and park-like. If it's more foresty and wild I would say go for the torches. I have a foresty area in my town that has more of a backwoods vibe and the torches look great there and gives it a very eerie vibe.
I agree with dizzy bone. It would depend on your landscaping. If you're going for a more natural look, then the torches would be perfect. If you're town is more manicured, then I'd say the illuminated trees would look better. But the trees look awful during the day, in my opinion. If your town is always set at night, that won't be a problem.
FYI - I'm planning on using the illuminated trees in my second town of Nocturne where the theme is more Victorian and it will always be set after dark.
I like the warm glow of the torch. It looks the same 24-7 and it takes up a bit less space than the illuminated tree. The tree looks like a teepee with no covering during the day or maybe a rocket nosecone frame. If there was an option to keep the tree lit all day,I might prefer it over the torch but I don't usually play at night so the torch it is.
When I read 'tropical' I immediately was going to vote for torch, but ultimately voted for the tree instead! I agree that it'd probably look really nice with what it sounds like you're going for! But then again, if you have the bells and the time, you could always build one of each to see what you think looks best in person!
I'm thinking the torch. I think it makes more sense with the theme. I don't have the torch, but hearing that it goes all day and makes a crackling sound, I might just get it. The tree looks good, but only at night. But town is a little on the "girly" side, so the tree fits for mine. But if you have the bells, get both. Keep both or decided which ones you like best. I have placed public work projects and decided to get rid of them. Just to change it up sometimes.
I like the looks of both, but I voted for the fire torch, as it fits more of a tropical theme and is lit both day and night, but of course, the illuminated arch fits really well at night. I guess it's up to you. You can either have one that's lit up both day and night or just one at night.
My vote goes for the torch. As cool as the illuminated tree is at night, it's just ugly looking at daytime.
Besides, the torch has a nice cosy touch and personally I would say it fits better to a tropical theme.
Whoop, Fire torch is now taking the lead. The torch was my original idea, but I was looking throu my lists and saw I already had a tree.
Once I manage to clear my SD card a bit I'll post the area the torches/trees would go in. To describe it, it's just a basic area. Everything is covered with a white wooden plank deck QR code, to act as the 'residential areas' where all the villagers live.
