So ... Lately , I'm been loocking for some 3ds to buy in 2016 . For now , I've only picked Hyrule Warrior Legends , and now , I'm hesitation between Fire Emblem Fates and Bravely Second : End layer . So I thought that you guys can help me out xD . I think that the style of these two games are similar , but I decised to only choose one , because I don't want to waste my money on both of them . So ... help me guys . I really can't figure out what game is better that the other . I like the different storylines thing with Fire Emblem but Bravely Second seems more interesting . Halp guysss !

The way they both play is fundamentally different. Sure, they both have classes and the fantasy elements, but I wouldn't say they play similar enough to only pick one, if you're basing it on play stile.

The Bravely games play like older Final Fantasy games. Random encounters with your party moving more or less together against an enemy or set group of enemies.

Fire Emblem Fates and other games in the series involve you moving your characters along a board, and in that sense, it's less random with enemy encounters. Not all members of your army have to perform an action at once, or go after the same enemy, as things can get pretty spread out. There's also the whole permanent character death aspect the series is known for, at least if you opt to play in classic mode.

I'd say resource, stats, and weapons are pretty important in both, but the way they feel when playing them is pretty different, down to how weaknesses and strengths work in each game.

Personally, I'm more interested in the Fire Emblem Fates games, and own all three paths because of the special edition.
I don't know how Bravely Second plays out because it's not out in the U.S., but I know that the ending of the first game was kind of repetitive and turned a lot of people off. I really hope it's not the case with Bravely Second, because I've pre-ordered that now as well.

My personal recommendation would be Fire Emblem Fates, Conquest path, because it has the most interesting mechanics compared to Birthright, and then later on Fire Emblem Fates, Revelation, if you want more of the story with some additional mechanics.

If you're in Europe, you might try the demo on the eShop. ^_^

I'm also hesitating between Fates and End Layer. I played the demo for Bravely Default and didn't like it all that much. Then I played the demo for Awakening, absolutely loved it and ended up buying the game. I might have to flip a coin to decide what to buy, ha ha.

I actually didn't have fun with the Bravely Default demo, but I ended up liking the game overall. I'm definitely more attached to Awakening than Bravely Default, though, haha.

Ha ha, yeah, I can understand why. ^_^

Funnily enough, I'm kind of more leaning towards buying End Layer now, rather than Fates. I've been watching several videos and I think I'd like the characters and how the story is told. I mean, in Awakening you don't really get to run around (well, a little on the world map, but no towns and buildings you can visit) and there is not that much voice acting. I've read people saying the audio quality isn't great in End Layer (*), but I think I could get used to it. I actually like how everything is voiced and such; it's a nice change from Awakening.

At this point I'm pretty much "do I get Fates and play something I have some experience with, or do I get End Layer and start something new?" So yeah, I might flip a coin after all, ha ha.

especially the females saying a word with "s"

Bravely Second all the way for me!

Amazing mechanics, beautiful art but a subpar story.

I already preordered Bravely Second CE, so my vote is for that. I've played Bravely Default and loved it (for the most part) and I'm a big fan of old-school, turned-based JRPGs.

Like dapperlace said, both games are actually very different. Fire Emblem Fates is a Strategy RPG which is similar to playing chess. Bravely Second is a turn-based RPG which is similar tp Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.

Bravely Second continues from Bravely Default iirc, so I don't recommend picking that up unless you've played and enjoyed Bravely Default. It's a great game if you enjoy traditional turn-based RPG with a twist. While I didn't like the plot progression in Bravely Default, I really enjoyed the gameplay and had fun testing out classes and how it works. I'm also a big fan of turn-based RPG so picking this game up wasn't a hard decision for me.

Fire Emblem Fates is a good entry point for new players, or if you've played any previous Fire Emblem game, would also enjoy the game as it's geared toward seasoned players as well. Unlike Bravely Second, FEF requires more planning and management. It does have Phoenix Mode so if strategic gameplay isn't your forte, you can still enjoy the game. FEF also offers a big cast and all the interactions between them.

So, should you get Bravely Second or Fire Emblem Fates? I say you should get Fire Emblem Fates for now as you are interested in the different storylines, and the game was pretty enjoyable for me too.

I haven't played Bravely Second so I can't compare it with FEF yet, but I'd only recommend getting it if you have played Bravely Default.

Hope you'll have fun with whatever game you decide to pick up! :D

Ay guyys you're not rezlly helping me out like this xD The different storylines are pretty cool in FEF , but something is Bravely Second is ... i don't know how to describe it xD It appeals to me , sorta ... But i really don't know , help me out . Oh , and if you're a fan of a serie , say what you would choose if you weren't xD

If people are saying to get Fates but you still want Bravely Second, then the choice is obvious, no?

(Note: I mention the end of Bravely Second, but it's not a spoiler.)

Not sure if you've played Awakening, but if you didn't; it has a demo as well. So I'd say; download both demos and see which you like best? ^_^

And I understand how you feel; at the moment I'm more thinking of buying Bravely Second. I played Awakening and absolutely loved it, but Fates would be something of "more of the same", whereas Bravely Second would be new and therefor more interesting and fun for me. ^_^

As for why I personally would choose Bravely Second; the art, the humor (which is not everyone's cup of tea, but I watched a few random videos and found myself laughing a few times, so that's a plus for me), only four characters in your party (it'd make a nice change from Awakening), the cutscenes are voiced (although some say the quality isn't that great but from what I've watched, it seems okay for me) and animated (a nice change too from Awakening where the portraits don't move) and also because of the ending.

I watched a video of how the game ends (wasn't really my intention, but jumping from one video to the other I found myself watching it) and while I was watching it I went "wow... that's just... wow!" And I was only watching it, but it actually made me want to play the game myself, you know?

So yeah, personally I'd choose Bravely Second. ^_^
