Finally Have AC:NL!

Today, my birthday, I received a 3DS and AC:NL! So I should probably introduce myself...

I'm Mayor Amy of Estee! Our little town is dedicated to nature and all the wonderful things in it. At the moment I don't know my friend code or dream code, so sadly no one can visit me! I really hope our little town grows!

PS: I'm extra lucky that Chrissy is one of my starter villagers!

Anyway, welcome and happy birthday! I hope you enjoy the game.

You can find your friend code on your 3DS easily. The manual should explain how in more detail, but you can see it by tapping the orange smiley icon at the top of your home menu (on the bottom screen). Then, pick the card that has your Mii on it. You'll see your FC. Your FC is the same for all games on your 3DS, by the way.

Your dream code takes longer because it's not a 3DS option. You can get it by unlocking the dream suite PWP (after you play for some time, Isabelle will be seen asleep at the town hall, and you'll be able to build that PWP in your town). Once you visit it, you'll be given the option to make a dream town and you get your dream address that way.

I almost forgot: there's a huge difference between letting someone visiting by swapping FCs and by giving them your dream address. When you make your DA, it saves the state of your town on that very moment, and that's what visitors see. They're only visiting a dream version of your town, so they can chop trees, take items, and trample flowers without affecting your town.

When you exchange FCs with someone and they visit you through the train station, if they ruin or steal things, it damages your town. There's a lot of tips on preventing this and I can link you to some threads about it, but it's best to not let just anyone visit your town that way and flip the switch on any bad visitors before they leave.

No, that's not your FC. It should be appearing with numbers instead of question marks. Have you switched on the wifi in your 3DS yet? Try to switch it on and check your FC again.

Welcome to the forums! and Happy (belated) Birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day! AC:NL is a very fun game to play and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I joined the forums a couple months back and most people on here are awesome! If you ever need help with getting sets, hybrids, villagers or bells, let me know and I'll try my best to help you

Also, your FC shouldn't appear with question marks, it should have numbers. As Laser Beams said, you probably just need to connect to your wifi and it should appear.
