I have mixed feelings about the whole thing.
Corrin's reveal trailer was awful, made me embarrassed to be a fan of the Fire Emblem series at all, and made me rethink whether I even want to bother to try Fire Emblem: Fates. The only good thing I can say about Corrin is that at least his playstyle looks interesting. That said, if we had to have another Fire Emblem character, I wish we could have gotten someone with a freaking axe or lance. Swords aren't the only weapon in the games. :/
I'm alright with the Mii Costumes.
Bayonetta looks fantastic and fun to play.
It is really, really disappointing that we won't be getting anyone else. Shantae would have had an interesting and unique moveset. Shovel Knight would be great. Banjo-Kazooie would be amazing, and King K. Rool would have been a great addition considering Donkey Kong's low representation and because the Smash Bros. games sorely lack villains. Here's hoping that Sakurai will actually stick around for Smash Bros. 5, considering he says each installment might be his last Smash Bros. game. If he does, hopefully we'll see these characters we wanted in that game.
oh jesus ****ing christ stop with the god damn fire emblem characters they are all the ****ing same have some creativity
Untrue.
Ike is a heavier and stronger character than the rest of the Fire Emblem characters with a wholly unique moveset other than Counter. He plays nothing like any of the other Fire Emblem representatives.
Roy's swordplay is completely different from Marth in this game.
Robin is obviously completely different from the rest considering the use of the magic tomes.
The only close ones are Marth and Lucina. Lucina's playstyle is a clone of Marth, true, but the damage is calculated differently. Marth does the most damage with the tip of his sword, while Lucina has less power more evenly distributed regardless of where you hit.
While everyone other than Robin has a Counter, that's where the similarities end.
Try actually playing them to see the differences.
