FC twin

I bought one and it worked just fine, just be sure the games you want are playable on it, it won't play certain games.

I'd just buy them on the Wii's Virtual Console, if available.
Going to yard sale and buying box of old NES/SNES Gems for $10>Paying $5 to play freaking Super Mario Bros.
The prices on VC are pretty fair, but buying a SNES/NES is a good idea for buying games that will never appear on the VC.

They are really fair, but buying a big box of them for $20 is worth it.
They would have been thrown out anyways.

But with Virtual Console, you don't have to go through the hassle of hooking up another console and putting in cartridges. You just select them from your Wii Menu/SD Card Menu and they're ready to play.

Yes, but you can get a switcher so you can have multiple inputs.

You can't buy all the games on VC though, so if he wants more, it's better to buy a console.

Yes, but there are already over 500 games available, with more added every week. Chances are most of what he wants to play is there.

Right, so he should use both. There are many classics that will never come on the VC.

How do you know they'll never come to Virtual Console? The Wii still has a long life ahead of it. There are only a little over 500 titles available via Virtual Console so far, with more and more added every week. I'm sure 99% of everyone's favorite past games will be added eventually.

Licensing issues mostly, games that companies had rights to but lost, unpopularity, etc.

Good examples are Ninja Turtle games, Earthbound and Battletoads.

Things can always be sorted out. It may take time, but I'm sure we'll get most of what we want on Virtual Console eventually. Hopefully that includes Donkey Kong 64... I miss that game. =(

I don't see why DK 64 wouldn't be on VC eventually, since Nintendo does own the rights to DK characters, so hopefully, that'll be on there soon enough. I also really want Yoshi's Island.

And it may very well true that they'll work out the some some deals in the future, I'd be willing to pay a little extra for some titles, like Turtles in Time, I dunno we'll see.
