Link. He may not be my best character, but he's definitely my favorite. He's very fun to play as once you learn how to use him. He has no spammable attacks like Little Mac or Greninja, and he isn't very fast, so I'm not surprised that I barely run into people using him online.

Toon Link, Link, Zero Suit Samus, Robin, Lucina and Captain Falcon are my favorite characters to consistently use this game. Robin more so than others, followed by Zero Suit Samus and then Toon Link last.

With the new characters included in the newest version: I'm loving Robin.

Story mode wise, I really like robin, zelda, and link.
pvp wise, captain falcon all the way.

I really do like villager's concept and lucina's colorations but I just feel like I feel like they're hard to use. Especially lucina, since as far as I know she doesn't have any sort of long range attack. As for captain falcon, I think he's by far one of the best characters for pvp besides maybe pokemon chars. His ability to long range attack in entire directions great for when you go off the edge and his moves are easy to spam with no real cooldown.

yeah, lucina is exactly like marth for some reason. I don't really know much about Fire Emblem.

Lore-wise: Ness, Villager(does he even have a lore?) yeah only those two.

Competitive-wise: Olimar, Ness, Villager.

I have yet to try out any of the Pikmin series...
You should see Pwing duke it out in the TLOC using Villager, really good stuff. Poor Olimar didn't get a chance participating at tourneys.
