Which of your villagers' catchphrases are your favorites?

If you've changed any catchphrases, which one is your favorite? Have you ever regretted a catchphrase choice?

I bring this up because today Dizzy asked me for a new catchphrase. And I assigned him "I love you". And look y'all, I know this isn't unique or new or anything, but I'm DYING it's so great. Dizzy is my sweet child and I just love how he's like "I love you" all the time lmao.

Back in New Leaf, my boyfriend and I were obsessed with giving our villagers catchphrases from Zenon.
That was definitely a Grade A decision and I personally never regretted it.
I know some people have their villagers say swear words and stuff, which seems pretty funny but idk I think I might get burnt out on that!


As for initial catchphrases, I find it so adorable that Maple says "honey" because she's a cute lil cub and she's so sweet!
I also loved how Papi said haaay when I had him. Made me think of "hey girl heeeyyy" but in a more horse-like way haha.
I love it when the initial phrases are a play on the character and make me giggle a little bit.
Lucky's makes me a bit sad, he goes "rrr-owch" and I'm like omg are you okay your poor hurt thing???

I’d have to say that I love Bob’s ‘Pthhpth’, can’t help but feel that the lovable dork just randomly sticks his tongue out mid sentence and speaks that Rock Bottom language.

I also love Chrissy’s ‘Sparkles’ as well, just something really cute and fitting for her.

I feel like I should have a folder of these because I went through a lot.

This one is my all time favorite. It started with Peewee, spread to Rizzo and then infected my right side of the island.

I forget who this started with but how it began to spread too.

All my villagers just say "Mr Wick".

most of my villagers say the same thing and that's "pinetree"
it's a reference to gravity falls and it's cute so i love when they say it

tbh though, my favourite would have to be raymond's current saying, which is "satan" it matches his greeting "hel.....lo" but nobody in my house has figured out how they relate

the only one i regret is "waifu"
me and my sister made judy say it as a joke but now 4 of my villagers are saying it

During Halloween I thought it'd be cute if my villagers would say "pumpkins!", given that the island was filled with pumpkins. Now nearly Easter it isn't as cute and I'm over it, but I haven't been asked to change it.

I stopped giving them catchphrases so they couldn't spread them

I have lucky the catchphrase “bandages” which I think is super cute and then it started spreading which is fine it’s just funny because it makes no sense when Tia says it lol. I also gave Bruce the catchphrase “ah my bones” because he acts like such an old man

I decided to introduce my villagers to soft cursing, and I'm never going back. I have a mixture of phrases in circulation, like 'dang it', 'good grief', 'darn tootin'' and 'dagnabbit', assigned depending on what I think suits each of them. It feels more realistic to me, and I think it's cute! Plus they're pretty generic, so it doesn't really matter how they spread. Also, you haven't lived until you've seen a cranky finish every sentence with 'dagnabbit!'

I changed Diana to be "for real doe" and it's probably the best custom catchphrase I've come up with.

I love Puddles' default phrase "splish" and I think it's adorable coming from a tiny frog.

he's not a villager but i have always adored lyle's "BANG"

I love Kid cat's "Pssst" it just amuses me, and Rosie's catch phraise, Silly is just adorable.

I can't wait to give them custom ones though~
