Oh man- I LOVE beetles! In real life too, I like lots of insects, but beetles are my favourite and I love how they look in this game they're so CUTE!
I like their chunky sounds when they fly away even though it means I missed one, and I like the animation the way they kinda creep up the tree slowly fhdjsjjsksk beetles are the best. Hercules beetle is probably my absolute favourite even though I haven't managed to catch one yet :'( also I love the horned dynastids, gonna get a model of one asap! I also love scorpions, they're so cool! And I like that they've chosen black scorpions for this game.
For fish, the catfish is my favorite. It's just so cute and it comes in a decent crate.
For bugs, I like the grasshopper. I have a soft spot for grasshoppers IRL and the little cages they come in are very cute. All of the butterflies are also quite pretty - I love to fill my whole inventory with them just because of how it looks.
The orchid mantis, praying mantis' have always been my favorite bugs and the orchid one has a really neat look. As a kid I raised some praying mantis and its cool to have them again, even if its in a video game
The hammerhead shark, such a cool look to it. when i go into the museum luv to watch it swim around
My favourite bug the the agrias butterfly because it's so pretty and my favourite fish is the coelacanth but it was so hard for me to catch it the first time and now i'm getting them all the time
My in-game favorite coincides with my real-life favorite which is the Emperor butterfly -- the Blue Morphos -- they're stunning. I love that the game gives them shimmer and glow at night time, and a beautiful shine during the day.
The reason why I love them so much is because when I was pregnant with my oldest (almost 19 years ago now), I went to a zoo exhibit with free range butterflies if all kinds. For some reason, six or seven of the Blue Morphos (Emperor butterfly) alighted all over me and would not fly away. There was one that landed right between my shoulder blades and looked like teeny fairy wings (I ADORE fairies), one on my finger, two on top of my head and one right on the tip of my nose. I dat down, and more landed on me. Because they wouldn't leave even when coaxed by the exhibit workers, I ended up just staying there for almost two hours, just letting them crawl on me, coming and going as they wished.
It's strange because I don't wear perfume, I wasn't wearing particularly colorful clothing, and nothing seemed to be the cause for their landing on me...
Later when I got home, I was looking through some of my grandma's old journals and Pagan books and pressed between the pages of her personal shadow book was a Blue Morphos butterfly.
It was like she had been there with me at the zoo, speaking through the butterflies. My oldest daughter has her middle name (Emily) as a middle name. The whole thing was just a surreal and lovely experience. <3
I think seeing the Emperor Butterfly makes me happier than seeing any other bug. They just look so beautiful at night. Runner-up would be the Firefly for pretty much the same reason.
Favorite fish would probably be the Coelacanth because it always feels so exciting to catch and I love that they're out there in the world. Runner-up is probably the Sun Fish, because it's so huge and ridiculous and weird and cute.
Favorite sea creature (so far) is the Giant Isopod because I think it's adorable as a placed item. Runner-up is a tie between the Moon Jellyfish (because it's gorgeous and strange) and the Vampire Squid (because it's spooky and has glowy bits at night).
My favourite fish is the ranchu goldfish! It looks so plump and cute haha.
My favourite bug would maybe be the emperor butterfly.. I haven't seen the crickets yet but I really liked those in acnl because of the ambiance their sounds brought haha
Birdwing and emperor butterfly are my favorite for bugs! I’m currently close to making an emperor model, just need one more! My favorite fish would be the tuna, it looks cute to me xD
My favourite bug would have to be the purple emperor. No deeper reason than purple is my favourite colour, and it makes for a beautiful model in my town centre.
Favourite fish is more of a toss up, but I’m torn between the seahorse (so cute), the pufferfish, and the butterfly fish. I have 2/3 of these as models, and I’m just waiting for CJ’s next visit to get the butterfly fish
