Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I'm new(ish) to the practice of villager trading and was wondering if anyone was knowledgeable about this subject, as I have a problem:

(sorry about the horrible quality)

Pompom is moving in next to my house, on a plot that destroyed my wonderful perfect peach trees and my lovely sweet-olive bushes I painstakingly collected over a period of 2 weeks, and decimated my gorgeous hybrid flower collection I was working on in front of my home. I am not a happy camper and would like to see this [insert explicit word here] shove off as quickly as possible.
Now, I'm not against time-travel, but I don't necessarily like it; if it's my only option, then so be it, but I would appreciate some advice!
Thanks in advance!

There may be other methods that are faster, but what has worked best for me in the past is good ol' timey physical abuse. Just follow them and whack them with a tool, push them around, set up a couple of pitfalls for them, etc. Deliberately messing up or denying their requests also seems to work, but be careful about requests that involve other villagers you want to keep -- they might get mad at you as well.

...sorry to hear what happened. Yes, it's very frustrating to have some uninvited/unwelcomed villagers moving into all the wrong spots. (Clay moved 2 steps in front of my house when I first started ACNL destrotying all the flowers and trees)
Sounds like it's an 'unexpected' move-in: I'd assume you do not plot reset for villagers?
Do you know if PomPom is from someone's void (and you got those voided villagers via online trades or visits, or streetpass)

Here is a handy guide on { how to move villagers out successfully }
and here's a guide on the { villagers' moving riumors }
Hope these would be somewhat helpful to you too.

Try to avoid doing the physical abuse thing, as it would not work in *this* game.
Doing that will only make them cling onto your town more.
The best way is to talk to them a few times when they first moved in, then ignore them completely (until they ping to move).
This helped me got rid of that creepy monkey Tammi. Word of advise though: Try to adopt that unwanted villager out, or 'unload' them in a cycling town or 'clear your void' in a full town, or they will haunt your Main Street for all eternity.

And yes, befriending them and build up friendship is the best way. Unless it's the 10th villager, which is usually the most difficult to get to move, unless you move someone else out first.

Anyway, have fun & good luck! C:

lol, so basically every villager has Stockholm syndrome in New Leaf? Huh, you learn something new everyday I guess.

Personally, I would suggest just TTing one day forward at a time and checking to see if she requests to move. It's a relatively fail-safe method as long as you ensure that no other villager moves. If she does mean to, however, you'd be better off ignoring her request completely. Villagers have a tendency of changing their mind if your friendship isn't high enough with them, but as far as I know, completely ignoring their request doesn't give them the opportunity to change their mind.

Good luck getting her out. It's pretty lousy getting someone you don't want near you. :/

Everyone here has pretty good ideas. The only advice I have is what Maruchan said - don't try to force Pompom out. That'll only leave you with a villager who never wants to leave. D:

TTing is also an option, but I personally don't use that method. It would probably be the easiest and fastest way, though.

Good luck! :)

Look on the bright side: at least you didn't have a new villager move smack dab in the middle of your neatly, meticulously arranged pathway :p I'd third Maruchan's advice/links. Abusing an unwanted villager in an effort to force them out doesn't seem to work.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful advice, and especially to Maruchan for the links.
I've tried abusing my villagers in the past and the ones I've hit over the head with my net the most haven't really done anything. Reverse psychology I guess.

In direct response to Maruchan:

I actually have no idea what "plot resetting" is; hahaha. My village has been around for a year and I've never really reached out like this before, save for the occasional Thonky guide here and there.

And, as far as I'm aware, Pompom didn't come from this "void", but I could be wrong. I streetpassed about 20+ people in the last 5 days or so, but the only villages I've travelled to didn't have this little duck whatsoever.

I'll be trying this next week (I just bought a tonne of turnips) and will post my results once I'm able.
I also have been plagued with a creepy monkey, Shari, and I'll be trying this on her as well.

Thanks again!

Plot resetting: instead of allowing the game to determine where the villagers' houses are placed, which waaaaaay to often are at horrible and most inconvenient spots, there are methods to counter it. Whether you fancy all the houses all lined up neatly in a row, or just do not want them to be right in front of the bridge/your door/on your paths etc, spending some time & effort in plot resetting would be immensely rewarding in the long run. Example: Firstly, put a few PWP where you do not want the houses to be. You can always remove those temp PWP later.

Anyway, here are some links to how to actually do the resetting successfully & safely:

You are welcome!

Seems like both could be from someone's void when you streetpassed them (and you won't see them in others' town, since they are voided) To prevent these Pompom and Shari incidents from repeating itself, I'd strongly recommend anyone who have less than 10 villagers to try to put the town in 'lockdown mode' whenever there's an open space: no visitors/traders comes in, you do not go out, turn streetpass OFF, no wi-fi trading whatsoever - determine who would be that villager you'd like to fill up the open slot in your town, then look for that villager over at the Villagers Trading Plaza forum here, or some other sites. Inviting a villager and adopting from another town ensures that you get the villager you want, and since they (usually) move in a day or two after you invite them, this gives you a definite time frame to prepare for the actual plot resetting for that new villager.

*waves* Best of luck to you! C:

Wow! Plot resetting sounds amazing and awesome!! Thank you again for the links, I'll definitely be using these!

You've provided me with a plethora of great information. If there's anything I can do for you let me know~!

Oops. It does seem that Pompom came through the void:

I'll be putting my town on lockdown then, as soon as I move out both Pompom and Shari (with Pompom, I have 10 villagers).

Sorry to interject, but I just wanted to say that I personally have had more luck with the "befriending" method than the ignoring or abuse methods.

Even if it seems hard, maybe try becoming close friends with Pompom? I find that any villager that I befriend will try to move out almost every week.

It's all down to personal preference though. Apologies for butting in.

befriending them like crazy... and giving them a piece of rotten fruit every time they want some... works every time for me

I don't have much advice, other than you not hitting on them with your net or trying to physically hurt them. That would make them cling to you even more.

The only thing I know about making villagers move out, is perhaps when they first arrive in your town and unpacking, you should talk to them once and say hello, then never talk to them again. If they already moved into your town and you've already spoken to them number of times, you might be able to try and create a new character, play with them as much as you can after greeting the new villager only once (!), and that would have the same effect as it would if it had been with your mayor. Eventually, within one week, the villager would ask to move out again.

That's pretty much what I heard. Haven't tried it yet and don't really know if it works or not.
