Ex-Villagers appearing in the shopping district...

I understand that villagers that have moved out of your town are supposed to show up occasionally around the shop area. I have had several move out, but the only one I ever see is Benjamin, and he shows up every single day. Katt, Patty, Sydney and others that have moved out never show up. It's been this way for over a month. I just think it's strange.

My new town headcanon is that old Benny is a bum and has nowhere to live, and begs for bells by T&T. I made myself feel guilty for not liking him and making him move.

Wait WHAT? Since when has this been a feature? I've had 3 Villagers move out (Nate, whom I ironically share a name with, Wolfgang, and Curlos) and none of them has been seen since in my town. Is this a new thing? Is there an update to New Leaf I don't know about?

It's been there ever since the game first came out.

It's because the others that have moved out don't IMMEDIATELY show up in your shopping district. It took several move outs for my older villagers to show up in the shopping district. Once another one moves out, someone else shows up in the shopping district.

Shouldn't more than one villager show up, though? I've had plenty of move-outs, but only Benjamin ever shows. Which sucks. His eyes gross me out. I had someone move out before Benjamin did, too, but they never showed up. (I can't even remember which animal it was, though...)

I've heard that if you moved a villager out, then after four other villagers move out then they will start to appear in your shopping district.

They won't appear straight away after they have moved out.

I was so happy a few months ago when Olaf moved out. I didn't like him at all. He's the only villager who has given me a picture that I didn't keep. Anyway, he's in my shopping district almost every single day now. I want him to leave!!!

My first town that i've had since release had three villagers move out. They were never in my shopping area.
My second town was the same. I'm guessing that just a few moved from it as well.
My other two towns have tons of villagers on main street. I had a bunch of villagers move from them.
