Essential inventory items?

I always try to carry gifts I plan on giving villagers when I run into them (usually clothes/fruit), wrapping paper, and customization kits in addition to a few tools! I don't regularly have all of them, like the vaulting pole for example, because on most islands you don't need them! Occasionally I have medicine, but I tend to run to Nooks for that instead of carrying it around, especially if I'm not chopping/shaking trees!

I really only carry my tools, a trash can (for flowers/nonsense stuff I want to throw away), and the occasional gift I find to give to a villager ; u;.....

Wrapping paper, customization kits, fences, stacks of non native fruits. Trying to get more photos but alot of my villagers are fairly new so its slow.

Honestly...nothing.

I keep tools in my inventory. A few backup tools for important things like nets and rods. And...that's about it. All the other slots are left empty for catching insects/fish, picking up items, etc. If I'm going island touring, I'll make a few extra shovels and axes as well...but, I generally only keep one or two of those for normal island life.

This isn’t essential but I literally always have dug up trees/bushes in my inventory - I dig them up and then cant commit to where I want to replant them so I just end up carrying around 10+ trees lol
Same, my island is a mess because i can't just commit to placing trees/bushes or just chopping them down if i can't find a spot for them. Thinking about adding a third character to hold a lot of my extra trees/bushes, lol.

As for my essentials, besides tools i typically carry around 1-2 stacks of fruit and customization kits. Plus some fencing if i'm working on a specific area.

A stack of cherries (native fruits), a stack of medicine, and wrapping paper for gifting my villagers presents!

Just thought about how funny it would be to carry a toilet around, just to expend fruit energy.

Kinda having a flashback to the "potty emergency" episode of Animaniacs. Lol.

I carry all the tools, the swimsuit and personalization kits.
And that's all. I always try to have my inventory as clean as possible ahah

The vaulting pole, ladder and slingshot are absolute musts. The rest I kind of drop on the floor and pick up for certain situations

zen fence, iron fence, a DIY table, custom kits, wrapping paper, peaches.

I used to bring materials with me too but sometimes they take up so much space esp. when I need the space to hold furniture while I'm decorating an area.

Apart from tools/my wetsuit, I always some eggs with me. Yes, eggs. And yes, I still have stacks of them. I stocked up on them during the bunny day event so I can use them to move trees and destroy rocks without using up my fruit 😅

I hate that I have to carry so much garbage.

If crafting was gone, and tools didn't break then maybe this game would be a little fun instead of the grind that it is.

I carry stones, all three types of wood, iron, sticks, customization kits, all the tools plus spares and a wetsuit.

I have virtually no inventory space for anything that I actually want to have on me.

I only carry net, rod and slingshot permanently. Everything else is stored accessibly on the island. - eg ladder and vaulting pole on a stand by airport, a placed shovel by the 2 locations where a majority of fossils spawn (not that I need em now), wetsuits displayed by my jumping cliffs. etc.

Though I have got a habit of nearly always having some bushes in my inventory most of July. Been tweaking some path layouts and fenced off bits, and slowly randomising the orders so there's rarely just a wall of holly in a row.

Shovel, net, slingshot, watering can, wetsuit, ladder, wand, some bells, foreign fruit, wrapping paper and 10nmt are my constant companions!

Besides tools, customization kits and now I always have the wetsuit too. My pockets are usually filled with random crap that I don’t have anywhere else to put

Permanent items: wetsuit, slingshot, customization kits, bells
Sometimes items: net (catching 5 wasps or scorpions at night), shovel (one for digging up fossils/moving plants, a second for hitting rocks), ladder and vaulting pole (been demolishing inclines and bridges), fishing rod, crafting materials, changing room, DIY bench, coconuts
