END OF THE WORLD!!!!1!

I think that this world will become inhabitable in.... 2million years.

But I think we'll be living on lots of different planets by then.

I know exactly what will happen.
Soon we're going to find an alien cache site on Mars and loads of refined elements that make faster than light travel possible, and then that cache is going to point us in the direction of the former planet Pluto, for us to discover that what we once thought was a moon is actually a frozen station that aliens used to navigate to our solar system, and we'll use it and be introduced to the galactic community.

News flash people: The earth isn't the only planet in the universe. People are so close minded about this, and think that if the earth ends, everything will end. Over 600 Sextillion stars counted so far, and an even greater amount of planets. Do the math. I'm sure by the time something significant happens to our planet, humans will have the technology to survive elsewhere in the universe. And if we don't make it that far, I'm almost certain that there has to be other intelligent life in the universe. IF our planet and our species doesn't survive, I think that would be because of atomic war. It's really the only thing big enough to wipe out the entire population, that or a massive pandemic. These earthquakes and natural disasters will most certainly not have a great affect on the population. There is nothing apocalyptic about earthquakes or natural disasters, especially since they happen at a steady rate (They aren't increasing or decreasing), and they happen where they are expected and supposed to happen. It would be apocalyptic if an earthquake happened in a place where it shouldn't, say New York City or Paris, but they don't. Natural disasters are COMPLETELY normal. Really, we should be worried if there wasn't any earthquakes.

On a side note, a crap load of people at my school were talking about Japan and their nuclear reactors exploding causing the end of the world. I read about the potential threat but I never heard of the earthquake actually breaking them...Can anyone explain?

I can explain. People love fear, so they grasp at anything they can and make some crazy theory about it.

But if you're asking about the nuclear reactors, yes, they were damaged during the earthquake.

I believe the entire 2012 thing is bull****. My friend and I were talking about this the other day (randomly, actually) and she brought up a very good point: time zones. If you think about it, it may be the 20th of December for you, wherever you may be, and somewhere else it will be December 21st. Is that part of the earth going to somehow explode (or whatever the theories are as to what may happen), while the rest of the earth is waiting for their clocks to hit midnight? I don't think so. I also agree with what Fabio had to say, and had that thought in my head for a while now.

As for my guess of when the world is ending, I'm going to say not in my lifetime. They can keep making up all the dates they want, I still won't believe it will happen. Anyone remember Y2K?

The end result being the best game series ever?

And sexy aliens.

The Mayans were all killed by the Spaniards before they finished their calendar and that is why it 'ends' at 2012.

So there's that. (Before someone inevitably brings it up.)

I don't believe in the 2012 bull **** either, but to be fair, it isn't just the Myan calendar that ends on 2012. There were several other native American calendars that had ending dates around 2012.

I'm not trying to start a debate. I'm not saying that there isn't a god, who knows, but I hate it when people get religious on me when talking about the end of the world. I'm not saying you are.
When do I think the world will end?
I don't know, defenitley believe that it won't be 2012.

Well, that's what a lot of people think, I just brought it up. Who do you think "decided" that the world will end in 2012? :)

I can't exactly remember the statistics, but there is actually an almost certain chance that the earth will be destroyed by a meteor or something of that nature long before the sun expands into red giant phase.
